In case you're not, he's famous for publicizing his outlandishly wild, drunken/sexual exploits. Those who can laugh at such uncouth humor will love his stories. Those who can't will hate them.Recently I was in the book store and noticed this on the shelf. I read a story out of it at the store (laughing more than once), ordered it through Amazon later and finished (most of) it.The verdict? Funny, but not exactly the drop dead hilarity some might want, especially veteran fans. Many reviewers here have said "if you read 'I Hope They Serve Beer...', you'll be disappointed by this". I've never read that earlier book of his so I can't say how true that is. But I'd believe it. To be fair though, if you've never read Tucker's previous writing, you'll probably find almost all of this to be hilarious.Either way, there are legitimately funny stories here even for diehard fans: Duke Law School Bullhorn story, Halloween party story, Tuckerfest weekend story, etc. There's maybe around 6 good to really good stories in the book. But there's lots of filler material that, frankly, hurts Tucker's legitimacy as a humor writer. For example, most of the chapters that are collections of 'short stories'. Like a litany of one-liners Tucker said to women while he was in bed with them? Not funny or print-worthy.Also, despite Tucker's often admirable, hilarious displays of chutzpah, his writing comes across as annoyingly pompous sometimes, as if he's trying to overcome small nagging insecurities about himself. While Tucker is unquestionably charismatic beyond belief (and has some right to be arrogant), I suspect his charisma and "awesomeness" don't extend quite as far as he'd like others to believe. Nor are his philosophical insights as deep or accurate as some might think. Then again I've never met the man.In sum: you'll love this book and should probably buy it if you're thick-skinned and have never heard of Tucker Max before. If you're thick-skinned, but are already familiar with Tucker's previous writing, expect some good stories, but nothing necessarily beyond his previous writing. If you can't stand uncouth humor, you'll absolutely hate this book and should likely avoid it. If you're unsure, visit his site, read his stories online to see if this book is for you.3.5/5P.S. The book reads very easily, which is a huge plus. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Funny, Ridiculous, Shameful, Yet Insightful *by M***1 on Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2011* I feel as though many people came into this book expecting a repeat of the same sort of stories that came out of IHTSBIH. The first part of this book did indeed have many of those stories, and they were hilarious, outrageous, somewhat concerning, and overall ridiculous. However the second part of this book took a turn towards the more serious side, and ironically, one in which I believes speaks both to women and men alike.Being a 23 male, I can honestly say that there is a small part of me that would love to be like Tucker Max, he sleeps with who he wants, seems to do what he wants, and parties as much as he wants. Very few men can actually say they do not want to experience this, even for a brief minute. But trying to be like Tucker Max is not what life is about. Many of us loved his first book because it fed into that desire that many males possess. It is an instinct that is a part of our natural desires as men. However this books is more than just a collection of such stories. His second book is more of an explanation of how being yourself, and searching for that someone who you are willing to give up everything for is way more meaningful. Tucker Max just doesnt object to partying and having as much fun as possible until that happens.He goes in depth to explain this in his stories about his adoring fans who are nothing more than sad people trying to use a psuedo worship of him to try and build some semblance of normality or acceptance into their lives. For the often emotionally broken women he sleeps with, he tries to use their examples of how degrading yourself and allowing yourself to be abused will not fix some emotional scarring that you have suffered at the hands of another. He shows that some women out there just frankly want to have sex for a variety of reasons besides love, and frankly, for many of those reasons it is perfectly acceptable.I think that for all these reasons his book may be inadvertantly too 'high brow' for some who are just looking for a bunch of stories that make you laugh out loud and shake your head like they did in his first one. Finally, for all those women who are offended by Tucker Max, its not like he is forcing you to sleep with him.
