If not I don't see the usefulness of this item.** A: No, the bristles are not wire. This brush is not intended to "de-rust" the cast iron as you would do with a wire brush. This brush is intended to be used to "clean" (no soap of course) your pot/skillet after cooking. I use it everyday - highly recommend it! **Q: can i use it when the pan is still hot** A: Depends on how hot. The bristles are nylon and will melt. **Q: Where is the brush made?** A: The information tag attached to the brush said Made In China. **Q: May I ask what the bristles are made of?** A: The description on the product information says nylon. The brush-made in China- has a major design flaw. The part of the wooden handle that goes intt he brushhead as a very thin cross section, so is very weak and delicate at the point. even a little pressure or a fall is enough to break it.
