This simple and reliable meter is both comfortable in your hand and logically designed, with a minimum of confusing buttons.The large LCD display reads out in "F" numbers in 10ths of stops and in 1/2 stop increments in a pointer scale across the top of the display. With a shutter speed range of 1/8000 second to 30 minutes, this meter is quite sensitive. In its cine mode, frame rates of 8-128 can be achieved.As a flash meter, the KFM-1100 can be used with or without a sync cord, and has an aperture range of F/1.0 - f/128. As an added bonus, both flash and ambient lighting can be analyzed to determine the lighting ratio of any scene. This feature is very handy in scenes where a flash is being used to "open up" a shadowed area left by ambient (natural) light.The meter's "Calculation" function can be used to average measurements that have been stored in memory, very useful in reflected light measurements, to capture highlight or shadow detail more accurately.The KFM-1100 can store 2 measurements that can be recalled for reference or for averaging. Just press the "M" button after each reading to store it in memory. In addition to my digital SLR, I use a Bronica S2A which is fully manual and had no internal metering. This meter has both ambient and flash modes, covering just about any lighting. I also bought the reflected light adapter and will probably get the spot attachment eventually. I checked it's accuracy against the meter in my DSLR and found it spot on. The only thing I did not like is the cover for the PC cord connector that tends to come off easily. I put a wide rubber band around the bottom of the unit to hold it in place. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great little unit with only one drawback. *by R***L on June 23, 2008* This is one of those digital gadgets that has six buttons that do about 20 different things. I haven't tried it out yet in the field as I have been reading the instruction book and learning how to use it. This seems to have all I will want for my portrait business and then some. It even has cine function for movie cameras. I like how it will give you the readings for different shutter speeds by just clicking the up and down arrow button. So if you get 1/60th at f/11 and click it to 1/125 it will show f/8 or whatever. The only thing I don't like is that the dome must be removed to take a reflective reading rather than just sliding over to the side as most meters do. This makes me wonder how long before I lose it or drop it and watch it go into some place I can't get it. I suppose they figured you would be using it in incident mode all the time so that would not be a problem. Still would have liked some sort of connection to the unit by either a chain or permanent attachment. That is why I gave it 4 stars rather than 5. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Fine Basic Meter *by M***W on September 5, 2018* I'm a full time pro. This meter does the basic stuff really well. Love the accuracy! I bought an accessory flat-dome to use in different lighting scenarios and that is what I mostly keep on the meter.
