They should pay back in lower energy use in a year but we at least don't mind leaving the lights on a bit more especially since its winter time.Light is almost the same - colour is almost identical (yellowish) to the halogens.I thought I may have to replace the transformers to LED one's but so far I have had no flickering or anything.I have been using these for a week or so now and none have failed - so far so good and fingers crossed they last! ### ⭐⭐⭐ A 'spotlight'. Really? *by A***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 November 2020* Bought to replace the Amazon Basic bulbs purchased a few years back which are now beginning to fail. Quite disappointing really. They are a much yellower light than their predecessors which were also descibed as 'warm white' and that is quite noticeable when placed next to the older ones. My biggest disappointment though, is that the angle of beam seems very wide indeed and hence you don't get any 'downward specific lighting' effect. The LEDs themselves are mounted on the flat surface of the bulb whereas the older ones directed the light through some sort of internally reflective tube. They may be more efficient but you sacrifice the spotlight effect.Which brings me to the last point. The Amazon listing mentions the angle of beam as 120°. Can that really be called a spotlight? I must admit that I read the description 'spotlight' and ordered, but if it was described as a 'wide-beam' I would have looked elsewhere. ### ⭐ Don't buy these bulbs *by T***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 December 2019* At first we thought just one bulb was affected - the light was very bright and began to flicker. However, as time has passed and we used more of them - one is very dim, and three others also flicker. We are going to bin the remaining ones. I don't believe that these bulbs would have passed our electrical standards - they were made in China and are described as MR16 not G5.
