It is non-toxic and does not contain harmful chemicals, and is environmentally-friendly. **Q: Does poo powder work better than commode liners?** A: The commode liners from Cleanwate already have some Poo Powder in them. This material's job is to turn waste into a gel. You can get more than one use out of the liner if you add a little powder after each event:) **Q: There are ~2.5lbs of the powder?** A: 32 ounces, so 2 lbs. **Q: Do you have to add powder with every use or just one treatment per pot?** A: Yes, per the instructions on the jar you use one scoop per "use". Personally I sprinkle it over the "waste product" afterwards; not sure if it would also work as well, if you added it to the bag/container/whatever you are using, first. The powder turns into beads of gel, kind of like what is on the inside of disposable diapers, which absorbs all the liquid & in doing so, pretty much all of the smell. I don't have the jar here with me to look at (it's at my campsite), but if I recall it says something about each scoop absorbing, say, 1-2 cups of liquid. The different size jars say how many "uses" (scoops) of powder are included; kind of like laundry detergent saying how many (wash) loads, or scoops, are included in the box. For only two of us, using the campsite on occasional weekends, the 30-scoop jar lasts many, many months; I guess if you have a large group of people or are staying wherever for an extended period of time, you would run through it faster.
