The disadvantage is, if you are used to heavier beanbags it takes some time (figure on the order of an hour or so) to adjust. Doing it like that means you're barely making an effort every day, but in a few weeks the skill gets built. They are really light, which can make it a little tricky for beginners, but the kids ended up getting used to these balls. Other reviews that mention the seams coming apart are right.
