At first I was dismayed at how harshly orange and flickery they were. l experimented with various lamps, putting both a blue glass and a diffusing shade over them, which took some figuring out to make workable and attractive. Then it became a realistic flame effect that I love. I have two in my living room in front of mirrors; when I play a crackling sound effect from my phone you'd think there was a fireplace. The best result was with a simple electric candle lamp set inside a large nonelectric pillar candleholder. I frosted the glass with silver paint and put a blue glass inside over the lamp. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Does NOT work in fixtures with a dimmer switch *by S***F on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on August 22, 2019* The media could not be loaded.  I bought these for my home theater thinking they would add great atmosphere during October. However, the sconces in my theater are attached to a dimmer switch and when I turned them on, they just went on and off almost like a strobe. I did make sure to have the brightness turned all of the way up. When I put them into a light fixture on a regular switch, they worked fine and looked great.
