Review: Visions from a Nightmare - This is a very nice book. The introduction discusses David's time at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Art and its aftermath in more detail than I've seen in other biographies. I always wondered how long he attended PAFA and if he graduated. It turns out he attended from the beginning of 1966 until the end of the Spring semester in 1967 and didn't return because of financial considerations. There is also a good discussion of and selection of images by teachers that David worked with and other students that David knew. As for the second section of the book which comprises about 100 pages, there are mostly full page reproductions of David's paintings, drawings and lithographs. I have another book called Dark Splendor which is also pretty nice but my one problem with it is that many of the reproductions are not much bigger than a postage stamp. This book doesn't have that problem. I also like the fact that this book has a good selection of paintings and drawings from created from 1965 to 1969 and some of the paintings from this period are my favorites. He didn't work with color much, even then, and most of these paintings are comprised of black and greys. As for the subject matter, it's about what you'd expect. One painting is called Woman with Screaming Head, another is Man Throwing Up. So you have to realize that David's work represents a kind of dark surrealism and it's not for everyone. Sometimes I'm not too sure about it myself though I'm drawn to his world anyway. In fact he's one of my favorite artists. There is also a good selection of work from the 70's up to 2013. The book also includes a chronology of David's life and work at the end and some photos of David with family and friends. If you like David Lynch's films and artwork this book is highly recommended.
Review: MUST HAVE FOR LYNCH FANS - A beautifully produced fine arts book that offers some great examples of Lynch's visual art outside film. Good commentary too.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My cow is not pretty, but it is pretty to me.

First off... David Lynch is awesome. This book is awesome. Chances are if you found this book, you've already been in love with his films and the Twin Peaks series, and want more Lynch. This is a great place to get it. Nice clear photographs of his previous work, and a bit of history. If you are a fan and are on the fence about purchasing this book, just go for it. There are definitely lots of images in this book that help tell more of the story that is David Lynch and his "weirdness".. he's creative and does what he wants. Just amazing.
