The gutters currently installed are complete trash and I'm avoiding major upgrades at the moment. After weeks/hours of research my long-term options are expensive ones, new gutters with premium metal guards. No easy solutions exist for pine needles. Either the product you are installing has too small of holes (water will flow over your gutters) or too large (pine needles with get stuck in the guard) … and the most important problem: maintenance. No product exists that overcome these challenges + keep the cost low. So I’m creating that solution. My Build: Magnetic strip https://www.desertcart.com/gp/product/B0799QD1MK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Half inch self tapping screws: https://www.desertcart.com/gp/product/B008SPIQ2I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Zip ties and the mesh product reviewed today https://www.desertcart.com/Home-Intuition-Gutter-Plastic-Guards/dp/B07BDPP1KB/ref=asc_df_B07BDPP1KB/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241973991106&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2381773061534257327&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9005825&hvtargid=pla-473522272714&psc=1 1. Drill small pilot holes for the self tapping screws index to thumb length all the way down the gutter. 2. Repeat pilot holes through the magnetic strip. 3. Zip tie the magnetic strip to the mesh, this side will face your home. 4. Secure the mesh using the self tapping screws. This side is furthest away from your house, on the outside top of your gutter. 5. Trim mesh (outside of gutter) to fit. The result for me is a permanently attached mesh with inside magnetic inside strip for ease of cleaning. The magnetic strip keeps the mesh from sagging and curling, which this stuff likes to do, it is a very cheap product and needs support. Depending on storm surge results, if too much pine gets built up in certain areas I will add another layer of mesh underneath the current on an as needed basis. The top mesh is large enough to break the water. The bottom mesh small enough to stop pine needles. This solution allows me to maintain the gutters by simply pulling up on the magnetic strip. This is specifically for the flat portions of my roof. For areas of the roof that are not flat, the magnetic strip may or may not be needed, just tuck the mesh underneath the shingles as shown in the video. I’m likely going to end up tacking the magnetic strip everywhere just because of how much easier it is to maintain the gutter. I want to avoid ever having to touch this mesh product again, it’s not easy to work with. Quite happy with how things are coming along! Storm surge updates to follow! Review: Great product - ** Update...works for leaves but the helicopter seeds from trees get stuck on it upright. You have to manually remove them, which is a pain. I have two trees that release them in front of my house and it caused a thick layer to accumulate on the gutter guard mesh. Original review: Really good product. I had to cut the tips of the little hooks to fit my gutter, but installation was easy and it's keeping the leaves out of my gutters. I would recommend. ## Features - 2 Pack of 6" by 20' Plastic Mesh Gutter Guards - Keeps leaves and dirt out of gutters - Can easily be cut to size with regular scissors - Plastic design safeguards against rust ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B07BDPP1KB | | Best Sellers Rank | #42,162 in Tools & Home Improvement ( See Top 100 in Tools & Home Improvement ) #23 in Gutter Guards | | Color | Black | | Customer Reviews | 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars (1,052) | | Date First Available | March 12, 2018 | | Extension Length | 20 feet | | Item Package Quantity | 1 | | Item Weight | 1.26 pounds | | Item model number | GG08498 | | Manufacturer | Home Intuition | | Material | plastic | | Package Dimensions | 10.12 x 6.77 x 5 inches | | Part Number | GG08498 | | Size | 2 Pack | ## Images ![Home Intuition 2-Pack Leader and Gutter Guard from Leaves, Twigs, Branches Plastic Mesh Guards Leaf Protector 6" inch Wide 40' Feet Long Total - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91kBQnklmUL.jpg) ![Home Intuition 2-Pack Leader and Gutter Guard from Leaves, Twigs, Branches Plastic Mesh Guards Leaf Protector 6" inch Wide 40' Feet Long Total - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/811oq2Rm54L.jpg) ![Home Intuition 2-Pack Leader and Gutter Guard from Leaves, Twigs, Branches Plastic Mesh Guards Leaf Protector 6" inch Wide 40' Feet Long Total - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81cHPp8pJBL.jpg) ![Home Intuition 2-Pack Leader and Gutter Guard from Leaves, Twigs, Branches Plastic Mesh Guards Leaf Protector 6" inch Wide 40' Feet Long Total - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81gq8eyilCL.jpg) ![Home Intuition 2-Pack Leader and Gutter Guard from Leaves, Twigs, Branches Plastic Mesh Guards Leaf Protector 6" inch Wide 40' Feet Long Total - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/816ZPyYtZ0L.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: What is the best way to adhere to the gutter?** A: I used plastic ties to the gutter hangers **Q: can animals chew through this like rats?
