Review: Been looking for one of these for a few years now. - Back in 87' when I was stationed in Vilseck Germany, I found a little knife shop that sold some of the most awesome looking knives. I found a bowie that I liked and bought it and for 15 years it was my favorite knife. In 04' I had some health issues and was feeling like my time was short so that Christmas I made a custom sheath for the bowie and gave it to my Sister who'd always admired it and had often joked that I should leave it to her in my Will, I wanted her to have it sooner than that. Almost immediately I regretted parting with that knife, and I've been looking for one to replace it ever since. On ebay older Linder and other such Solingen bowies can sell for up to $400 for a used one and none of them looked as good as the one I had so when I found this one on desertcart I decided to go for it. This bowie is almost the same size as my old one. The blade steel is a little different (couldn't really tell you how, just that the shine is different. Though the quality of the steel is very nice. My old bowie was more of a swedge point and almost blunt at the tip where this one is more of a clip point. Out of the box the blade was shaving sharp. Fit and finish are exceptional and the stag handles are pinned with very large rivets. The stag handle is beautiful and nicely polished to a smooth rounded finish to fit the hand. The cross piece is a very substantial piece of stainless steel. Balance is good and of course the knife is full tang. The Sheath is leather and very nice though I would have liked to see a snap retention strap instead of the velcro it has, but it is a very nice sheath none the less. I can't replace the memories of my old knife, But I think I've definitely found a new favorite. Review: Fantastic Knife. Big, Heavy, and Excellently Tooled - Magnificent knife. It's big, heavy, and wonderfully finished in Germany (known for fine blades and great craftsmanship) My knife arrive with a cut in the sheath and that is why they don't get the 5th star. On being informed of this the customer service personnel practically tripped over themselves to make things right. Die Klinge ist Sehr gut Wärmebehandelt und Rasiermesserscharf . Das Hirschhorn ist zwar nicht sehr Ergonomisch, sprich Rechteckig geschliffen und abgerundet, aber trotzdem sauber an der Flachangel angepasst. Trotz allen sorgt der Griff für ausreichend Grip. Wer Mehr Grip will, sollte sich für die Cocobolo Version entscheiden. Das Parierelenent ist leicht C Förmig, was eine leichte Klingenfang bzw. Abwehrmöglichkeit, im Messer Zweikampf ermöglicht (Was hoffentlich niemand von Euch je erleben muss). Ich selber besitze beide Versionen dieses Messers und nutze es für sämtliche Jagd und Outdoor Aktivitäten.
