These things are quite confusing; the wires can be of non-standard colours and the design varies. The Y0utube tutorials are poor as well. The demonstrators sometimes waffle on pointlessly or don't strip the wires back far enough, so all you see is fingers and Stanley knives. But, that said, this device was easy to fit and does the job. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good - But check you know how to wire in! *by I***I on 6 July 2020* The media could not be loaded. A new touch lamp I bought failed and I couldn’t get back to the store to exchange as it was the last one on display (maybe that’s why it was faulty and they knew!).Anyways, ordered one of these - came within 24hrs.*Wiring Up*Like most, I searched for the guides online but for those who don’t want to bother, feel free to look at the image I used online attached to this review to help. It was perfect and the clearest I could find without watching a ton of videos.I have fitted a 40w bulb to my touch lamp, and the unit is emitting a funny smell when on.I’ll keep it on a while to see if it disappears as it’s not getting very hot or anything. Could be the flux in the solder evaporating. The board on the unit does look a little cheap and sometimes this is the cause.*Update* - Smell now gone after 24hrs from unit.Must have been flux on board evaporating.Any updates I’ll post on here but as long as you can do basic wiring, it should be no problem.I soldered all my wires and used ‘heat shrink’ to ensure a good connection. The wires are a little thin from what I expected mind but works none the less.UPDATE:Ordered my second one now to covert an existing bedside lamp for my son from the rocker switch type to touch. Work a treat and no more stretching my arm down the back of the bed trying to find the power rocker switch.See video for wiring and then final image with all the heat shrink to secure the connections.Wrks a dream! May look for more lamps to covert to touch after this considering how cheap the product is.Use E14 Osram 300degree bulbs in the lamp (40w) as LED bulbs won’t allow you to dim on the 3 settings this black box has. (TOP TIP!)Enjoy. ### ⭐ Absolute rubbish *by E***H on 18 February 2021* I decided to order this despite the poor reviews because I thought I might be able to use some of the parts. As others have said, the parts are smaller than on the original board and the cables are thinner. I also found that most of the solder joints were very suspect. Decided not to harvest parts, and resoldered all the joints, removed the cables and soldered the board to the cables on the lamp. NOTHING!Fortunately I had also ordered another make, which is just on/off touch module.
