They are easily opened and closed and will stay closed even if you put some real weight on it. I noticed they are well designed too. They are not quite round, on purpose. With the shape they have any force put on it will cause it to pivot around a center away from the weak points, distributing the load. I imaging you can put quite a weight on even the smallest of these clamps. I used these on extension cords, which makes it really easy to roll up and clamp shut, and when needed, just open the clamp and its all there.
