In our pool our baby practices balancing with supervision of me sitting next to her. Our older tot likes to tool around and check things out and this gives him a small level of independence while still letting him feel secure. This is made of a durable material. We have four and none of them have any holes or have broken in any way. We live in Florida, so our pool and beach toys are used frequently year round. These are perfect if you like to swim with your little ones, but if you wanted to turn your little one loose in the kiddie pool with these they might not be the best as the kids need help getting in and out. His cast was waterproof but he was hard to hold in the water with his large cast and this made it so much more fun for him to be independent. After he was out of the cast, his leg was very weak and he wouldn't walk, so we took him to the pool and put him in this and he would "run" in the water and it was great therapy for his leg and he loved the indepdence of it. I thought the price was cheap so I was hesitant to buy it, I thought it would not be as nice as the more expensive floats. I can honestly say, it is as nice or nicer than the more expensive floats. It has never tipped and it very comfortable to ride in. It s good size,....not too big and bulky. My granddaughter started using this float when she was 10 months and it was not too big for her. She is still using it at 13 months and I feel certain she will be able to use it again next summer.
