Is this compatible with a Hayward Powerflow Matrix pump? SPX1500unkit.

Yes it will, if you are using 1 1/2 in. PVC.

Can it be used with sump pump discharge such-40 pipe?

yes I would think that would be fine. i used them on my pool pump lines and i think that would have more pressure than your sump pump lines..

can uion be installed under ground ?

I don"t recommend using this union fitting. Use a 429/015 glued fitting instead!

Will 1 1/2 inch pvc pipe fit inside the ends?

Yes, this is a 1 1/2 slip by slip union
