The Roccat Tyon
The Roccat Tyon is an interesting mouse, with a lot of customization possibilities, unique aesthetics, and some seriously good build quality. The only issue is the software. Features: The Roccat Tyon comes with 14 buttons. All these buttons are intended in one way or another to be placed within reach of your fingers. Also to note is that it comes with a switch located near the thumb that can be used as an analogue joystick to use in racing or flying scenarios in games. All the buttons are satisfying to click and do not feel mushy or unsatisfying in the slightest. The cord is a hard nylon braid which doesn't drag on surfaces and is a welcome sight. As for lighting, the mouse wheel is illuminated and there is a light bar going along the entire bottom edge of the mouse. And as for the sensor, it is an 8200 DPI Pro-Am Sensor D3 which yielded excellent tracking. Build Quality: With the Tyon, it is made out of black plastic with a white inlay where the left and right mouse button are. The plastic is of high quality and doesn't collect too much sweat off your hands after extended periods of time. The mouse feels solid and durable in use and you can really feel the German engineering and design that went into it. The LEDs on the mouse (scroll wheel and light bar along bottom edge) are fantastic with crisp, bright colors and very good accuracy. Software: Now, in order to fully realize the customization of the Tyon you have to download Roccat's driver software. Here is also another example of where they put attention to detail and usability first. Each tab is easy to navigate and has a specific purpose. You can create custom configurations and up to 5 profiles for the buttons on the mouse along with macro's which could be useful in MMO's. Also, you can customize the lighting throughout the entire RGB color spectrum of which you can apply separately or together to the mouse wheel and discrete light bar along the bottom. Verdict: The Roccat Tyon is an excellent mouse with fantastic build quality and astonishingly good looks. It tracks nicely and is a joy to hold and use. It's software is simple to grasp and allows a great deal of customization. This is an amazing mouse for $90, and is quite honestly one of the best mice on the market.

I have found my Fit
I was looking for a mouse that was more of a palm grip and had 4 large easy/large enough to find buttons. This it seams is hard to find. The last few mice have been Razer Hex (claw grip and button placement/feel was hard to tell what button i was hitting or how many at the same time), Logitech G502 Proteus Core (Good mouse, ok button layout, one of the few that have side to side wheel buttons), and the Madcatz MMO7 (Nice button layout, must be built for claw grip every time I used it the front came off the mouse pad like a drag car. I tried all the weights and all the adjustable positions just not a good fit for me). Enter Roccat Tyon. I did not want to pay this much for another mouse that may not fit right but the reviews on different sites cough you tube made me look at it. I mainly MMO the button layout is great. the buttons on the top are easy to get to and to tell the difference between them, I didnt think I would use them but I do and its easy to get used to. the buttons on the side are great no mix ups you know which button you hit. The thumb paddle is awesome, I know its set up for fight sim etc but you can assign it to regular buttons. Put your most used commands on it. There is also a bottom thumb button that is out of the way and easy to get to my Ocrap button. Size its bigger than the Proteus Core and the Razer Hex it is a palm grip. I wear a large glove and fits my had perfect. It has a bunch of settings and lots of light settings. Build quality is good and the weight in the hand is good. It felt like a glove, you know where the buttons are and are not searching or wondering what you hit. Only thing I can knock it for (not really neg tho) is the "fin" above the mouse wheel. Its not a neg I just dont see what I can use it for. I forget its even there and its not in the way, plus you can lock it out if need be. I am sure some can use it. The software had a bit of a learning curve but once you use it and learn the sys its easy. I do not have to search any more. ## Edit I tried to use the top "fin" and now i use it all the time. For MMO i use it to loot and take all. It works very well. Great Mouse

Great mouse. Terrible drivers.
Great mouse. Superb build quality and functionality. Drivers need some serious work. I love everything about this mouse other than the drivers. On Windows 10 I'm experiencing some problems. After updating the drivers and downloading Roaccat's software, I was still unable to control the lights on the mouse. They were stuck cycling through all the colors, which wasn't a huge deal, it looked kind of cool, but I don't want that all the time. After reading around online I found a workaround that seems to do the trick. Pretty much just set all of the Roccat software to run as Administrator. This has allowed me to control the lights through the app, but it is still slow to update when I change settings. However, I bought this mouse for gaming, not to look at it. So that's really only a minor issue that seems to be pretty easily solved. For gaming, this thing feels great. It had plenty of extra buttons but none of them are in the way or obtrusive. It feels like a normal 2 button mouse unless you want to use the other features.

Great product, minor QoL issues
I haven't had this product very long, but so far, it's really proven worth the purchase. I initially bought this for the extra buttons, as I usually have a difficult time with my keyboard finding a comfortable position and the right amount of keys. I went in thinking it only had about 4-6 extra keys I could bind, but after messing around with the settings, I realized there were many more than I had initially anticipated. Pros: -Sensitivity. Coming out of the package, the response seemed almost a bit too fast for me. However, after messing around with it a bit, I've gotten comfortable with the speed, but there's still room to go higher. -Customizability. The settings give you a very wide range of colors to work with, as well as 5 different profiles you can set to switch between, depending on what tasks you're using it with. DPS adjustment can be bound to a key or set permanently through the profiles, and the mouse will automatically remember each macro setting when switching to a new computer. If you want to adjust the settings, however, you'll need to download and install the program on that computer as well. -Size. I would say I have an average-sized hand for an adult male, but this mouse seems to fit pretty well overall. If anything, it seems a little small for me, as I do have to scrunch up a little bit to reach all the keys. This one seems to be more of a per-person detail, though, so take this particular note with a grain of salt. Cons: -Also Sensitivity. Only problem here is that it has to be on a nearly completely flat surface to work. Anything with ridges or bumps is going to render the sensor nearly useless. This is first and foremost a desktop mouse, so be aware that if you want to use this with a laptop, make sure you've got a flat surface wherever you go. -Clarity. The package did not come with a full set of directions, much to my dismay. I did have to look up how to customize it online. After a few minutes of searching, I did find that you have to A) Download and install the driver from Roccat's website [http://www.roccat.org/en-US/Products/Gaming-Mice/Tyon/], and B) Do this for each computer if you intend to change settings on each one. -Profile Switching. You do need to create a macro if you want to easily switch between profiles. For myself, who mainly transfers between desktop functions and gaming commands, I need to constantly switch between them. There's no button that is automatically set to toggle profiles, so you'll need to set this manually. This may or may not be a personal issue with my device, but I've discovered the need to have the settings window open while switching profiles as well. All in all, despite its shortcomings, I've been very satisfied with this device. Definitely considering purchasing another one for my other computers.

Great device, I wish every mouse had such a variety of inputs
This mouse is great. I have enough buttons to bind swim-up and swim-down to the mouse in Half-Life 1 mods and STILL have buttons left over. Everything is placed in a very convenient location. I have big, lanky hands, and nothing on this mouse is in an inconvenient location for me. The fin-switch on top is as little bit weird and will take a bit of getting used to, but the thumb-axis feels new but VERY natural with its smooth motion and spring-return, and I wish it could find use in more applications. The Roccat software defaults to making the below-thumb button provide an ALT function on everything else, which effectively doubles the number of buttons. That's a ridiculous amount of functionality for a mouse, especially when considering all of the buttons are in different places so it doesn't end up looking like a Razer Naga. Roccat Tyon feels like a HUGE upgrade from my previous mouse, Razer Naga Hex. The button placement is overall better, the build quality feels more solid, the coloration is quite customizable (I like mine yellowish orange) and pretty bright by default (when I first received the mouse and forgot I plugged it in, it scared me once I noticed it). Roccat's software even seems like an upgrade. I think this mouse stores its own button configuration, considering everything works even without the company's software loaded. It's fabulous. There's no weight-customization here, no physical customization to speak of, really-- which might seem like a negative, until you consider that this mouse won't make you feel guilty for throwing out unnecessary parts, because there are none. I don't need to make it longer or wider... it's just designed right to begin with. The closest thing to a con? It's VERY high DPI and can be VERY sensitive if you want it to be. After a month of heavy use, it has "acted up" only once, when its movement seemed to become limited to a weird diagonal motion, with a limited ability to wobble up and down ... figured it out yet? The culprit was a little STRAY HAIR stuck under the laser sensor!!! Once I removed the hair, I went from worrying about my purchase to loving this mouse way, way more.

definitively not a plug and play with the driver
PROS: -Awesome lights -Many Buttons (16) -Shifter Button that doubles EACH button, awesome idea CONS: -Its somewhat light, a weight tuning system would have been a great addition since once I lift my hand from the mouse it accommodates itself (the cable pushes a little the mouse) and it moves itself. -Feels somewhat not that sturdy as I have been used to with logitech G series. -2d Scroll wheel -not much of a con, but it doesn't have the free scroll I was used to in logitech. -not so easy as plug and play, it need some work before its fully functional* -------------- *update 2: my story with this mouse so far: First I had issues with the firmware upgrade once I installed the driver, I noticed that you need to retry like 4 or 5 times in order to get it fully functional. meanwhile while this happens you need to either use mouse keys, or a second mouse, or the keyboard combinations. Then I noticed that when I used the program to assign something to the mouse (Colors, Button Assignments) didn't worked, so I contacted Roccat Support, who I have to say its a wonderful support team, and they told me to exclude the process from the Antivirus, (first time I have to do this with anything I have worked so far) and from there now its a charm this mouse, I was really considering returning it, but since I got it working now I'm glad I took a little more effort to get it working. So like I said, its not as easy a plug and play as Logitech, but its a pretty mouse, however It really needs some weight tuning. ---------- *update 3: after like 9 months of using this mouse i can tell that the only issue i have so far is that the X-Celerator thumb paddle that now is way to sensistive ( i dont use it that much) but the deadzone is always off. ---------- *update 4: (may 2016) i still have the X-Celerator thumb paddle issue, i cant normally use windows without it moving stuff, every time i re-caliber it works until i have to reboot or suspend the pc...

A good, versatile gaming mouse but not enough to justify the premium price
Went looking for a gaming mouse to replace my Corsair M90 after it stopped working (or rather after Corsair stopped supporting it). Wanted something versatile with precision for FPS games but also lots of programmable buttons since I play a lot of strategy games and RPGs. Decided to give the Tyon a try since it looked to be the best fit. Functionally, once you get it configured, it works great and the buttons are well placed and useful. The toggle buttons are cool and I've already found some good uses for them, both for gaming and productivity apps. The two extra bottons to the right of the middle finger are also very useful and right where you'd want them. Basically for button layout this mouse gets an A+. Motion is very precise, with smooth tracking and insane levels of DPI for those that need it. Works well with my "fingertip" mouse grip, though it's large enough for "palmers" as well. So overall the mouse works for my purposes. "So why not 5 stars?" you ask. The main reason is value. This mouse is ludicrously overpriced. At this price I would expect rock-solid build quality, probably an aluminum frame, weight adjustment, replaceable cord, etc. Sadly you won't get those with the Tyon. The second reason is the feel: The all-plastic build quality is adequate but not in the same league as other mice at this price (like the Corsairs). The body is light and hollow feeling and the buttons (particularly the extra buttons on the sides) just feel kinda cheap. Doesn't inspire confidence that this mouse will be long-lasting. And finally there's the software: while all the options you would expect are there, and they ultimately work, the actual process of setting them is a slow and frustrating experience. Basically every time you apply a setting the software locks up and makes you wait for 30-40 seconds before it finally accepts the change and lets you continue. So set aside plenty of time and have your stress ball handy. In summary, a good, versatile mouse with a great button layout for both gaming and productivity that would be a no-brainer at $40, but at $80+ it's kind of tough to swallow. My advice: unless the unique (and admittedly excellent) button layout is an absolute must-have, you'll get more features and better build quality from other premium gaming mice.

Opposite of disappointment
This review is for the Roccat TYON (Black) . TL;DR │ This is a terrific mouse. This will not only be useful for gaming, but also for productivity. If you're looking for a button-filled mouse, this is a great bet. It does NOT sacrifice ergonomics – not by one bit. The EASY-SHIFT function effectively doubles the number of buttons without actually adding more physical buttons. This is a far more effective approach based on my experience from other mice. If you need something cheaper, you should also check out the Logitech G700s . It is a bit cheaper, has wireless/wired option, and has a better scroll wheel for non-gaming tasks. One more thing... Look out for false "on-board memory". Watch out for Corsair and some of Logitech's offerings which only have on-board "storage", advertised as "memory" (learn more below⁽ⁿ⁰⁾). Don't even get me started with Razer... CONTENTS: Intro │ What I Like │ What I Don't Like │ Package │ Measurements │ Notes │ Comments │ Verdict - - - - - So... this purchase was totally unnecessary since I already have an abundance of gaming mice. I currently have two Logitech G700 , one Logitech G700s , and even a Corsair Vengeance M95 . I have avoided Roccat's mouse offerings in the past because I'd only consider mice with high button count. So then I provided them feedback, and man, do they listen! I remember distinctly suggesting in an e-mail of putting buttons on the right-click area, as this was ignored by many mouse manufacturers. Boom! The TYON gets it! That, and my excellent experience with their RYOS MK Pro keyboard made me hit the "ADD TO CART" button, even with its premium price tag. Well, Roccat has done it again. I feel the opposite of disappointment. [UPDATE: I now have two of these.] WHAT I LIKE │ + │ + On-board processor AND memory. VERY IMPORTANT.⁽ⁿ⁰⁾ + You can assign functions to almost every single button.⁽ⁿ¹⁾ + Multi-key rollover.⁽ⁿ²⁾ + Finally, buttons for my middle finger (right-click side). + EASY-SHIFT is so much better than "OMG over 9000 buttons!" + High DPI (technically, it's CPI) laser.⁽ⁿ³⁾ + RGBY LED lighting on two zones, with effects!⁽ⁿ⁴⁾ + I love the fins better than scroll tilt now.⁽ⁿ⁵⁾ + I also love the thumb paddles. + Braided cable for a premium feel. + Little touches, like the ergonomic USB plug. WHAT I DON'T LIKE │ × │ × 2D scroll-wheel. No tilt function.⁽ⁿ⁵⁾ × Non-removable USB cable. If cable breaks, mouse is brick. × No weight customization. It would have been nice. × EASY-SHIFT can only be assigned on the thumb area.⁽ⁿ¹⁾ × No option for wireless.⁽ⁿ⁶⁾ × No free-scroll option. I really wish every mouse has this function.⁽ⁿ⁷⁾ × No LED sleep function, nor can a button be assigned to turn it on/off. × It takes a while to upload changes to the mouse. [UPDATE: It's Windows Defender]⁽ⁿ⁸⁾ PACKAGE │ ✓ ✗ │ ✓ Solidly built mouse. ✓ High-end box. ✓ Printed materials. ✗ NO Freebies ✗ NO Garbage - - - - - MEASUREMENTS Cable length │ 72" (plug to mouse's surface) Mouse max LWH │ 5⅓" × 3" × 1½" Mouse weight │ 126 grams (4.44 ounces) ··· ⁽ⁿ⁰⁾ WHY THE PROCESSOR AND ON-BOARD MEMORY IS NECESSARY Simply put, the macro and key-strokes you save are stored INSIDE the mouse. It does NOT need Windows to be running to execute them. It has its own processors to do it. What are the benefits of this feature? ▶ For macros, there will be no lag/delay since it will not be dependent on Windows software. ▶ You can use it anywhere. Even in the lock screen, before "running" Windows (e.g. store your password). ▶ Need to change computers? No re-installing of drivers and software required. ▶ Works flawlessly with virtual machines and remote desktops (or any host/guest OS enviroment). Many mice state that they have "on-board memory". While technically correct, this is misleading; they have on-board "storage". Memory is useless without a processor to execute. Basically you will need Windows to retrieve those "memory" and have Windows execute them for you. It's not much different than having a USB thumb drive to store profiles. Just stay away from these because you pay more for something less (ask me if you want to know more). To put in perspective, Corsair, Razer, and Logitech (some) offers these, but they do not even employ REAL on-board memory. It's like preferring and buying a laptop with Intel integrated graphics, versus one with dedicated/discrete NVidia GPU. It baffles the mind. ··· NOTES ⁽ⁿ¹⁾ Every single button can be assigned a function with some exceptions. The left and right click cannot be re-assigned. However, the EASY-SHIFT-ed left and right clicks can be assigned. Another limitation is that the EASY-SHIFT can only be assigned on any of the three thumb buttons. (I initially wanted to put it on one of the right side buttons.) This makes it un-ergonomic to easy-shift the other thumb buttons and paddle. ⁽ⁿ²⁾ This is important because this means any button can be assigned as a modifier key. For instance, I could assign the thumb paddles to CTRL and SHIFT keys. ⁽ⁿ³⁾ Depending on how you look at it, high DPI/CPI might be useless. Even though I do not use higher than 4000 CPI, I still prefer the option. This is especially useful for extremely high screen resolution. Laser also means it could be used on more types of surface. ⁽ⁿ⁴⁾ RGBY lighting creates true yellow and more accurate colors, as opposed to RGB. I prefer RGBW for true white, but this works just as awesome. There are two lighting zones: one for the scroll wheel and the other is for the bottom trim. The effects include breathing, heartbeat, and blinking. Also note that holding on the EASY-SHIFT button lights up the mouse blue, and this currently cannot be changed. ⁽ⁿ⁵⁾ I liked the scroll wheel tilt. The fins may require a small learning curve. HOWEVER, the advantage of this is that scroll wheel is built more solid. The fins are more effective though compared to buttons on this area as in the cases of other gaming mice. I actually now prefer the fins, and in my opinion are more ergonomic to use. ⁽ⁿ⁶⁾ I know purists are against wireless, but a dual mode would be better. I have a Logitech G700s that I use wirelessly most of the time. However, if ever I become paranoid about lag, then I could just use it wired. Same thing with my headset . ⁽ⁿ⁷⁾ Found mostly on Logitech mice, this is a VERY convenient feature. It can click-scroll for normal usage, with the option to switch to free-scroll if I need to scroll fast. ⁽ⁿ⁸⁾ If for some odd reason, it seems that the mouse is slow to update, it is not really the mouse's fault. Apparently, Windows Defender is the culprit. You need to create an exception for the driver directory and files: C:\Program Files (x86)\ROCCAT\Tyon Mouse C:\Program Files (x86)\ROCCAT\Tyon Mouse\StartMonitor.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\ROCCAT\Tyon Mouse\TyonMonitor.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\ROCCAT\Tyon Mouse\TyonMonitorW.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\ROCCAT\Tyon Mouse\TyonOption.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\ROCCAT\Tyon Mouse\TyonOptionW.exe - - - - - VERDICT: I highly recommend this product. Seriously. ★★★★★ | 5 stars out of 5. The mouse came as described. My only gripe is the higher than average price tag, and the few quirks. However, in this case, those shortcomings could be easily overlooked. This is a great mouse, and a great buy. Questions? Hit the comments! This review is for the Roccat TYON (Black) .

This mouse is just awesome. It has plenty of button all easy to reach, a lot on functionality, a nice shape and a very nice looking. The weigh is just perfect and I never realy cared about being able to modify it, so this didn't bother me. The Driver is easy to handle, and does everything i need and more. The X-Celerator work nicely and can be changed for the macro or whatever you want, so even if you dont play videogame that need it, you can still use it. The Fin switch is perfectly placed, easy to reach and is very useful. The only thing that bother me is that there is no possibility to change the color of the lights when you press the easy-shift button (Blue sky Color) but it is minor compare to all the + this mouse have. Just so you can see, here a list of macro i've setted and use daily : Next Back Undo Redo Cut Copy Paste Save Open new Tab Open new Windo Close Windo/Tab Re open closed Tab Previous Song Next Song Volume Up Volume Down Mute Research in page Those are what I use in my daily profile. To these you can add the Dpi switch and the Profile switch( My second profile is full of macro to play video games). And with all that, I have still one button with nothing on it because i don't know what to do with it XD. Over all, this mouse if fuc***g awesome!!!

This is The Top number ONE!!! Amen
There IS, No Other, as Good. No better Mouse on the market.Period!! Macros and thumb shift, make this the greatest piece of kit going. Shift pressed, you control Volume mute, nav any app. Gaming, inventory and items at the touch of a button. Profiles for different games switched on the fly. The side buttons and double buttons next to left n right mouse buttons are in perfect placing. The top either or button is great for gun toggles like single or auto. Or switch grenades. Or right mouse extra keys for aiming buffs like mouse speeds or smoothing for sniper shots. Flick to a Navigation profile and 1 click for your email address or load common apps instant. Even flick on a playlist mid battle in less than a second. Even macro mouse on off switches(used for mining in Elite Dangerous or crafting mass products on Satisfactory. This is really the best of everything in your right hand, for PC gaming. Also good in apps like Photoshop or Music apps. Every option can be tired to an instant click. Eg Cut Paste Copy delete. Had one till it wore out. There was no going back.
