Very good chalk line for the price. I will be replacing all my other chalk lines with this product.
One of the best chalk lines I have ever used. The reel works really well and chalk stays on the line and leaves a distinct line.

A keeper and must purchase.
This is the one to purchase! Worth every penny. Smooth operation , perfect weight, nice line. Very durable, great grip, and no leakage. I tried a lower cost one and it was horrible that I needed to return. This one is a keeper for life.

The best chalk line in the biz
I have been working in construction for years and this is the only chalk box I recommend and use. The line is thick and braided which snaps a precise and crisp line. It has a large hook on the end of the line making it easy to grab onto lumber and you can even secure that with a nail or a screw for longer distances. It also has a line-lock feature too. My favorite part about this chalk line is that if any part breaks you can buy that specific part from Tajima. This thing is built strong and I don't expect it to break but, if anything did, I really like how the whole thing isn't trashed. I can get the exact part I need from Tajima for less. I prefer to buy from high quality companies like Tajima who think about sustainability and being less wasteful. Also, for those of you who don't know, these chalk boxes ship empty. You need to purchase your chalk separately. Do keep in mind that if you are staining wood or anything like that you want to stay away from colors like red, black, and some blues. White and some lighter blues are less tacky and less permanent. Many people opt to have multiple chalk boxes filled with different colors for their various uses.

Best chalk boxes but ....
I purchased the cr301jf model about 3 years ago. This was my first tijima chalk box and wow was I impressed. I'm a roofer by trade and use a chalk box daily. The positives: Crisp lines, doesn't spill too much excess chalk and practically unbreakable string. We use a heavy bodied permanent red chalk and this works fine without jamming up. In the several thousand uses I have not a single jam or any stripping of the gears. The line hook is top notch and holds tight. The Unit is easy to fill and has a clear housing to monitor remaining chalk level. Now the negatives. The locking line stop mechanism is located in an area where it's easy to accidentally flip it into the locked position while handling the unit. The rotating finger grip on the handle broke within a year. It was still usable but a bit more cumbersome and uncomfortable to retrieve. The small line feeder "needle hook" snapped at the end (it has a small T handle) making hard to remove from it's housing.I used this box for 2 years straight until I purchased another identical model. The handle broke in the same place as the first one after about a years use. I now realize that the rotating finger grip on the handle did not break but simply wore out to the point of failure. I am very pleased to say replacement parts for this model are available at reasonable cost. Even though I've had some problems with this chalk box it easily beats the 10-15 different models I've used in the past hands down. . This includes Irwin , Dewalt, and Stanley and a score of others. I do have to note that DeWalt makes the some of the worst boxes I have ever used. None of these perform or last as long as the Tajima. I am knocking off a star for the handle issues ( luckily I was able to purchase replacement part) but doubt I'll ever purchase another brand again. I'm sure for the average DIYer thus would last a lifetime. 😉

Japanese engineering at its finest.
I could never get a normal chalk box to last more then a few months without jamming up or breaking. After some research i stumbled on this beast of a chalk box. 2+ years later and ita still going strong. Tajima is an awesome japanese engineered and made tool manufacturer. They make great quality tools. This is the only chalk box I'll ever recommend to anyone ever again. The only downside is that they strong recommend using thier "snapline dye". Im sure normal chalk would work in it but all i have every used is their stuff. It seems move fine then normal chalk and the visibility is much better anyhow. Its fairly inexpensive compared to standard chalk from the box stores, you just have to order it online is all.

Best Chalk Box Ever!
Best chalk line I’ve ever had! I’ve used em all: Irwin’s, Dewalts, Lufkin’s, Stanley’s, etc. This chalk box has outlasted everyone I’ve ever had and the line holds the chalk forever. I barely ever have to fill it up. I also like the lock feature on it. It’s just an overall great chalk box and I use it just about every day framing houses.

Best product
Best Chalk line on the market in my opinion. No jams a locking mechanism that works and the hook clips out of harms way to prevent mishaps in your belt. Highly recommended.

Very impressive!
This is the cheapest of the Tajima chalk lines with a plastic body single speed winder. Despite that the elastomer body looks like it will stand up to the general abuse that site kit is always subjected to. The tool is fairly large compared to my old Stanley cast aluminium chalk line, but that gives it greater chalk capacity - a bonus on larger jobs - and makes it easy to handle in rigger gloves. In comparison to the Stanley models the Tajima has a far higher quality braded line which generates a thin, black line - especially when used in conjunction with Tajima's chalk line dye. Tajima also make three different thicknesses of line as well, should you need extra thin or extra bold lines. The separate locking lever for the winder handle is an excellent idea that should be copied by others and the hook is both generous in size and robust. I'm so impressed that I'm going to buy an aluminium bodied double speed model as well so that I can have a second colour available
