ASA Metal E6B Flight Computer

I used a predecessor to this item many years ago in military flight school. It was compact, multifunctional and reliable. To a pilot, reliability matters--a lot. So I was pre-sold on the updated product and I wasn't disappointed. I'm older, wear glasses now, and prefer the larger size of the newer unit. The E6B is beautifully made with a nice friction bearing for the rotating disc. The markings are clear and legible. It comes with a vinyl sleeve for storage and should last for many years. I'm happy.

This is a simple and easy to use E6B with great functionality. My only complaint is that when it was shipped to me, it came in a thin envelope and was bent.

This product definitely lives up to the long history of E6B flight computers. The aluminum is light, yet durable. The slide is a little long for my knee board, but I feel like that is the fault of the knee board designer. I can still fit it in there, but you need two free hands, which isn't always doable at 10,000 feet. This one comes with a simple bi-fold vinyl case. I threw my plotter and compass in there, and it really keeps everything contained in my flight bag. If you are looking for a good way to mark the clear course correction window, I had great luck with the wet-erase markers that they used on overhead projectors in school. You can easily get them at an office supply store. They are easy to see and they stay put. A quick swipe with a wet thumb cleans it off without issue. Dry-erase markers also work, but they brush off too easily.

This thing is a wonder, absolutely outstanding tool for calculating wind angles, ground speed, time in route, distances, magnetic headings, etc. Looks intimidating but the directions are easy to read, sample problems given with the computer make it easy to learn how to use. I highly recommend it prior to purchasing the electronic version, you may never need the electronic one after you use this very useful tool!

Already screws are getting loose, had to reinstall them with lock-tite

The aluminum, despite its strength, has little plasticity. If you bend it, then it's bent. Also, it'll probably lacerate my femural artery if I ever crash.

I would have never though one could calculate so much an a sheet of metal...! The information which this device allows access to is endless. Still learning things about it! Very hardy, tough, and sturdy. Great goodness! Thank you.
