Exceptional Product
I bought this scale based on its features and excellent reviews here and after looking around extensively at a variety of scales, their feaures, and their reviews. I have had this scale for just 2 months now so I can't speak to long term reliability, just current performance and usability. So far, it is easily one of the best items I have purchased and a very good value for the money at the price I paid of $36.95 w/free shipping on Amazon. Great accuracy and precision. Very good size. Excellent easy to read display. Wide range of measureable weights to the nearest 0.2 pounds. Excellent customer service with follow up email by the seller to be sure that I was happy with it and having no problems. First, I should say that I set up the scale in a flat area (as recommended) on linoleum. I compared it to my old spring scale and it was within a pound or two. (The old scale was a well rated spring scale that despite an XL dial was hard to read, never fully stabilized for a clear precise read, and was difficult to get full foot placement despite the scales XL size). I also compared it on one occasion to my weight at the doctor's office and it was within a pound. I tried getting on and off repeatedly on a number of occasions immediately or within several minutes after it gave a weight and reset and it always gives the same weight so it clearly gives consistent readings (as long as I do nothing that changes my weight between readings). Another reviewer suggested that it was programmed to repeat the same weight if remeasured within a certain period, so I experimented. On numerous occasions I would weigh myself and than immediately drink varying amounts water or take a dump and weigh myself again and my weight would change in increments of 0.2 pounds that appeared to reflect these weight changes. It also easily showed my water weight changes after an hour or more of sweating exercise - which could be as much as three pounds. I did not try to confirm with known weights whether the scale is accurate throughout its range up to 440 pounds but it seems to be accurate in my weight range, which on this scale has been between 220 to 240 pounds. I did test the lower range with hand weights. With a 2 pound weight on either side (to represent small feet to the sensors) each time it registered 0.0, so it appears it won't register weights of 4 pounds or less. When I tried a 3 pound weight on either side it did register 6.0 pounds exactly so I assume that this is its lower limit and that it is reasonably accurate at lower weights and would also be a good scale for children. I do like the size of the scale although I would have preferred a bit more length. I have size 13 (US) feet and have to position my feet carefully on the scale so that my heel and toes are fully on (I have about a spare 1/4" front and rear). If you have feet larger than size 14 (US) you might have to have your toes extend over the front of the scale and keep your weight between your heels and the balls of your feet. The width is more than adequate for just about anyone. Good luck trying to find a larger household scale anywhere. The large attractive blue backlit display is perfect with nice large numbers with good contrast that are very easy to see in any light. The display also stays on for about 10 seconds after you get off the scale so that if you have a large amount of belly fat that gets in the way of seeing the display while you are on it (or have really bad eyesight) you have plenty of time to view the reading after you get off it. About 6 weeks after the scale arrived the company sent an email asking me to contact them if I had any problems with the scale, included a summary of best practices for operating the scale, provided a support contact number and requested feedback on Amazon. Since it has been such and exceptional item I thought it well worth the time in putting in a review.

Finally an Accurate Scale
My wife and myself have been trying to lose weight for the last 6 months or so. Unfortunately our old bathroom scale(digital) would never give us a consistent reading. We would step on the scale, step off and weight for the screen to blank out then tap the scale to bring it back online and step back on; only to find out that our weight's had fluctuated by +/- 1-2 pounds. Not very encouraging as for telling if we were making any progress on weight loss. However, we loved the old scale in that it had an easy to read display and looked nice. But giving us the wrong readings made me decide to look on Amazon for a better scale. That is when I found the Eatsmart Precision Plus scale with all it's high reviews(all 3 models). Reading through some of the reviews I noticed how the scale was offering what I was looking for in being consistent with it's readings(and accurate), not having to Tap the scale and wait for it to boot up(like my old one), and also the high praise given to Eatsmart's customer service. So I purchased the scale received it very quickly. Never thought I would be excited about trying a scale, but when I received it I took it out of the box and set it up in the bathroom to give it a shot. And as the description said, I just had to stand on it and wait for the reading...which I read. Then I got off the scale and back on. Voila! The weight's matched! WOO HOO! But just in case I decided to let the scale power down and then tried it again...and Yep came back the same. However, later on I did notice that the weight started fluctuating a bit(by only about .2 lbs though), but it turns out that the way I had to span the scale over 4 tiles in my bathroom that not all 4 feet would be touching the ground. After moving it around a bit in the bathroom I was able to get rid of the wobbling at which point the weigh-ins became consistent again. In addition to the consistent weights that it gives, I also enjoy the easy to read display and the large base. Makes it easier to step on it in the center(which I am sure helps keep the weights the same). Thanks for making a great scale guys!

Originally disappointed, now impressed . . . . see update!
. . . . in light of all the glowing reviews read, and based on other purchasers' experience I purchased this product. Looks good, very wide - as advertised, but disappointingly inconsistent. Followed all instructions, to the letter, but never managed to get it to weigh the same twice. Both my husband and I tried, and both got varying weights. Not helpful when embarking on a weight reduction regime, so it is unfortunately having to go back. Thank goodness Amazon's return system is so user-friendly. Update August 1st 2010 I was somewhat surprised to receive an email response from the Vice President of EatSmart Products within about 20 minutes of the posting the above. He assured me I must have received a lemon (his words), which apparently happens from time to time. He also went on to say, and I quote, "I was hoping to get you a replacement immediately under our warranty program. Its the least we can do after putting a defective product in your hands." I was duly impressed and told him so in my responding email. However, to date I have not received a replacement, nor do I now expect/want one to arrive. Having re-read other reviews of this and other EatSmart models, I believe this model is, in fact, a lemon. Other models seem to be consistently accurate, whereas, it appears, this particular model is not. I am now looking elsewhere for a consistent and accurate scale. Further update August 4th 2010 Today I received an unexpected package via FedEx. I had duly returned my 'lemon' and received a refund. I thought that was the end of the story. Not so! A new scale from EatSmart Products, with a letter from the Vice President, apologizing for the lemon and enclosing a new scale, which, he informed me, has been thoroughly tested for accuracy. This accuracy I can confirm. Both my husband and I tested, and re-tested, and there was never a variation. I even tested it with one of my cats - spot on each time. EatSmart clearly stand by their products, recognise there are occasional flaws, and quickly correct the situation. I am a very impressed and happy customer. Obviously a company which values their name and reputation, and rightly so. Further update: September 23rd 2013 In case anyone is interested, my scale still gives accurate readings, day after day! Yet another update: 11th June 2015 - moved to the UK, with my scale, which is still going strong, and still on the original batteries! Such a great scale! Further update! 13th November 2017 - still going strong, still a great scale! . . . . And another update - 19th June 2019 - I find it hard to believe I have had this scale almost 9 years! Everyone still hops on every day, and it carries on giving accurate results. . . . and again - 25th July 2023 - still going strong! What an amazing scale!

Best scale ever!!
This is my second Eat smart scale.. I bought my first one in 2018, My Doctors office uses this product, so I knew I had a very good scale. I love/ hate that it’s so accurate.😁. The bright blue background makes it very easy to read. The Eat smart scale is very well-made, simple and to the point.. My old Eat smart scale, still works fine, I just wanted to give myself a gift.😊 I highly recommend this product.. You won’t be disappointed..👍🏽👍🏽

Very solid scale at a very reasonable price, but it requires some finesse for accurate results
So far I’m impressed with this scale especially for the price, and it works much better than the last “cheap” scale I bought. It seems very well built, and it’s pretty large and weighs over six pounds and the readings seem accurate and are very consistent. One thing I noticed is I got a bad reading just stepping on the scale despite it saying you can do that, so I always step on it with one foot for a couple seconds to make sure the scale reads 0.0 first, and then it always gives consistent results. I’ll report back as I’ve only had it a couple days, but as of now I’d highly recommend this scale. ***UPDATE 7/15/25*** Now that I’ve used the scale a bit more there are a couple things I noticed. As mentioned before I always step on the scale first to activate it before I weigh myself because if you don’t you can get a faulty reading despite what they say about this not being necessary. Also, and despite doing this initial step, I still got a faulty reading the other day on my first weighing so I would recommend doing at least two weighings in addition to the initial one to activate it to make sure you’re getting an accurate reading. After the second weighing I find the results to be stable. While this isn’t optimal and a little disappointing, when following these steps I still think this is a good scale and I’d still recommend it and would buy it again, but I’m subtracting a star because it is a flaw. ***UPDATE 11/27/25*** Now that I’ve used this scale for several more months I wanted to report it has settled in and all readings seem accurate and consistent (maybe it just needed a little time to settle in like some electronics do). I still step on the scale once initially to start it before weighing and weigh myself twice just to be sure, but I’m now very confident in this scale and continue to recommend it highly.

EatSmart Precision Plus Digital Bathroom Scale
I don't work for EatSmart, nor am I getting paid for this review. After our first electronic bathroom scale died at the ripe old age of about fifteen years, I needed to find a replacement. I ordered this EatSmart scale with a bit of trepidation after reading numerous reviews that discussed problems with the unit. I realize that EatSmart gets high marks for its handling of defective units, but I would rather avoid all that if possible. Our unit worked fine from the first day, and continues to do so six months later, still on the supplied pair of cheap AAA batteries. EatSmart claims a typical battery life of about one year. Some features (quirks?) have been discussed here and I would like to comment. If you weigh yourself, get off the scale, and get right back on again this scale will give you exactly the same reading as it gave previously. This will occur even if you have changed your weight by a small amount, perhaps a half a pound or so. I am told that EatSmart designed this into this model because otherwise you will read two back-to-back weights that differ by a few tenths of a pound. Rather than have you question your scale, they built in this feature. This repetition does not occur if someone else gets on the scale immediately after you (unless they are within a pound or so of your weight). After about 60 seconds the scale resets and will display whatever your weight is the next time. I was a bit leery of the glass top, not because I thought it might break but because I thought it would be cold. As it turns out I usually have socks on when I weigh myself and even if I don't I am not on the scale long enough for the cold to bother me. There is a difference between accuracy (how close is the displayed weight to your actual weight) and precision (does this scale measure to the nearest ten pounds or to the nearest ounce). I cannot comment on the accuracy of this scale because I have no test weights that are remotely close to 100 pounds or more. I can comment on the precision. Taking into account the feature of repeating the same weight for back-to-back weights that are within a pound or so of each other, I weighed myself several times. The scale reads to the nearest 0.2 pounds (about 3 ounces, or the weight of half a cup of water, not counting the cup). All three of my weight readings were exactly the same at 215.8 pounds. This means that while you may or may not be able to get your actual weight from this scale, you will get precise measurements that will tell you whether you are gaining or losing weight. To me, that is the important issue. The scale does not require any extra action to turn it on before you step onto it. Just get on, wait a few seconds, and read your weight. The weight remains on the display for about fifteen seconds or so unless someone else steps onto the scale. In that case, the scale will display the new weight within a few seconds. If you move the scale enough to turn it on, like sliding it out from under a stool to position it for use, it will need to recalibrate itself. To do this just put the scale where you will use it and leave it alone for about fifteen seconds, until the scale turns off. It is then ready for use. I am very happy with this scale. It's better and easier to use than our old one that lasted fifteen years. I hope this one is as reliable. UPDATE - 2 March 2014: My wife and I have been using this scale a couple times a day since we bought it two and a half years ago. It still works like a charm and hardly uses batteries. It's still using the original ones supplied with the scale. Very highly recommended. - Loren

Big person needing a bigger scale? THIS IS THE ONE!!!
We searched for a scale that would be accurate, easy to read, easy to use, accommodate my large size and was reasonably priced. This scale has met and exceeded all of these objectives. The accuracy is impressive. We consistently get the same weight reading when stepping on and off the scale several times in a row. I also noted my weight just before my recent doctor appointment in order to compare to his much more expensive professional digital scale. The two weights were 3 ounces apart. I was thrilled by that. ONE THING TO NOTE: the scale must be on a hard flat surface, as clearly stated in the product information, or it will not read accurately. My wife tested this by placing the scale on reasonably firm indoor/outdoor carpet covering a concrete floor. She was thrilled. She lost 105 pounds immediately, weighing in at a mere 16 pounds. The scale works perfectly on our patterned tile linoleum floor. Our second objective was easy to read. The scale could not be easier to read. The large numbers and blue background make it a snap to read even when not wearing our glasses. The third objective was easy to use. The scale turns on when you step on it and displays the weight within a couple of seconds. The display automatically turns off shortly after stepping off. Could not be easier. The scale was easy to set up too. Just put in the supplied AAA batteries, set the scale on a hard flat surface, wait a few seconds for it calibrate itself to zero and it's ready to use. If you move the scale to another location, it will automatically recalibrate to zero before your first use. The fourth objective was a scale capable of handling my weight and size 13 6E feet. The extra width of this model makes it easy to place my feet on the scale without them partially hanging off the edge of the scale. I can stand perfectly still without any wobbling. I have found this difficult to do with smaller scales. The weight capacity of 440 lbs easily accommodates my 270+ ibs. An added benefit of this scale is it is thin and quite attractive looking. If you are a smaller person you would probably be happy with the smaller Eatsmart scale that has the same weighing capabilities. That would save a little space and some money. But if you are bigger person who needs a bigger scale, THIS IS THE ONE!!!

Product Tested
So many positive reviews and so many reviews about lemons and imprecision. On account of the positive reviews I thought, "Surely, I won't get a lemon?" How many lemons does this company have? It seems like too much for this product to be on the market. I step on the scale. I'm 162. I step on it again and I'm 155. I go to the doctors office and I'm 158. What range, inaccuracy, and imprecision!!! No better than my $10 dollar scale from Wal-Mart. I also put my dog on it after having taken him to the vet (they weigh dogs in each time). Again, inaccurate. Very disappointed. Will be returning. What a waste of time, money, and energy. Buyer beware, I and others have warned you. I'm out $45 and still don't know how much I weigh. Just spend a quarter at a mall scale. EDIT: So I did more tests with it. I have a number of weights and put them on to see what would happen. A 20lb gave me a spot on 20lb reading. A 7 lb gave me a spot on reading. And a 15lb game me a 15lb reading as well. I tried different spots each time with each weight (middle, left and right spots) and the results were accurate. My advice is to make sure the scale is on a flat, hard, level surface. I checked the leveling in my house to find the best spot. The original readings were MY FAULT. Again, MY FAULT. The unit was calibrating. I still get variations when I weigh myself, but the variances are not as large. Still, after being on expensive scales, I'm wary of readings. This scale may not be accurate, but its precision and variances are acceptable (a variance of approximately .2lbs is modal for me). I'm not completely happy with the scale yet. I'll test some more and then re-post. I'll give it 5 stars for now so I do not hurt its rating (innocent before proven guilty). Next time I go to the vet or doctor I'll note the accurate weight and re-post to let everyone know how the scale compares. EDIT: I've had it for a week now and test it almost every time I use it. I've come to the conclusion that the scale can be accurate, but that it is EXTREMELY susceptible to leveling (i.e., the floor MUST be at a 180 degree angle) and floor changes (e.g., floor cannot be bumpy). I came to this conclusion because the scale was giving me false readings; it claimed I was 148 lbs when I knew I was around 155. Seven pounds is a HUGE difference. I tested it with the weights I have at home, and, sure enough, the readings were off for all the weights (15%-20% off per weight). As a final review, I'm going to have to give it three stars because I always have to be wary of its positioning. Move the scale even an inch and the reading will probably be off. It is possible to get an accurate reading, but I'll always have to question the readings and keep my weight set next to the scale for testing. Even though accuracy is possible, a scale that constantly has to be doubted and checked is not a five star product. I suggest purchasing/using a body tape instead. Accurate, inexpensive, and portable. EDIT: I've noticed that the scale randomly turns on multiple times throughout the day. I believe this happens when people walk around it or there are other vibrations around it. I've been as far as seven feet away from it and noticed it turning on as if it sensed something. As I'm typing this, I've looked over and it's on. A HUGE BATTERY KILLER. Knocking it down another star for this. Again, you're probably better off with a measuring tape. EDIT: I have the scale in my bedroom. Last night, without anyone moving around, it just kept turning on and off, basking the room in its blue light. It would turn off and on in random intervals, ranged between 5-20 seconds. Very annoying. I thought it would stop on its own eventually, but after half an hour, I just got up and took the batteries out. Extremely disappointed in this product. I've been very fair with this product, giving it five stars and the benefit of the doubt while I tested it, but over time, this product has spoken for itself. I'm knocking it down another star, for a final score of 1 star. Get yourself a body tape. More accurate, reliable, and affordable, not to mention less frustrating. This product was disappointing. EDIT: Customer support contacted me and sent me a new scale; they were even kind enough to send some tiles for better stabilizing of the scale and thus accurate readings. I'm surprised they contacted me, after all, the product has thousands of reviews. To conclude: 1. Customer service is out of this world: they sent me a new scale (they paid for the new scale and shipping) and even sent stabilizing tiles. 2. THIS COMPANY STANDS BY THEIR PRODUCT 3. As for the scale? What they sent is everything I wanted it to be: I just step on it and it gives me an ACCURATE reading. I've tested it using the methodology I delineated above. If I can give any suggestion it would be to get the product directly from the company and not Amazon. Amazon seems to have quite a few faulty units. FINAL EDIT: Great customer service, sub-par scale. Despite numerous attempts at calibration (the company even sent me tiles to better support the scale) I could never get accurate readings. I used different weights - 7 lbs, 15, 20, 25, 40 - and the readings were always off, for all of them. Even worse, the readings would change, so I couldn't calculate what the deviation was. Moreover, if you're off by 5% by one of the weights, that problem gets even more exacerbated when weighing a 200 lb person. I even bought another one, tested it, and the same issues arose. I ended up going with an expensive $100 mechanical scale. It cost much more, but at least it does its job. At its core, this scale exhibits far too much variance and is ultimately inaccurate. If you can afford it, get a real mechanical scale, akin to what is found at a doctor's office. If you're on a budget, get some measuring tape for your waist.

Broken
This is the 2nd time buying this scale, I had one for years and it started glitching so I decided to buy another one because it’s served me so well for so long. I received it broken and I can’t return it. I’m so sad, what a waste of money.

Attractive, accurate and well priced.
We needed to replace our old bathroom scale so I searched online for a replacement with good reviews. This brand was constantly among the winners. However, the $100+ price tag was a deal killer. A little more research revealed that the expensive models keep logs of your weight, and send them to your computer--I didn't need any of this--and so was delighted to discover this more basic model. What a gem! First, it looks great. The display lights up--we keep it in the bedroom and now one of us can weigh in the morning while the other is still sleeping, without switching on the lights. The weight, in lb, displays to one decimal price (in increments of .2) I suspect that it is more accurate than our previous scale, because the results match those we record at the doctor's office. The bad news is that it says that we weigh about two pounds more than we did on our old scale. Knowing that this is more accurate is small comfort when trying to lose weight. Most definately a good buy at this price.
