The Breather is the first drug-free evidence-based Inspiratory/Expiratory Respiratory Muscle Training (RMT) device used by COPD, Asthma, CHF, Dysphagia, Stroke, Hypertension, Parkinsons, and Neuromuscular disease patients, as well as athletes, singers, and musicians. It trains both inspiratory and expiratory muscles independently. Clinical benefits of RMT include improved dyspnea (shortness of breath), peak flow, laryngeal function, QOL, vent weaning, and speech and swallow performance. The original Breather was launched in 1980 and retired in 2017 with almost 1 million units sold. This new model was designed by therapists and builds from the success of the original Breather Breathing against resistance during respiratory muscle training (RMT) activates and strengthens respiratory muscles and improves and quality of life by promoting regained activity and exercise tolerance. CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS: Your Breather will be exposed to a quantity of saliva during training. We recommend cleaning it daily, or even every use if you prefer. Do not put it in the dishwasher. The high heat cycle may damage the diaphragms and the dials and will void the warranty. Please wash it by hand in hot water with a small a of mild dishwashing soap. Rinse your Breather well, shake off excess water, and air dry. If your Breather is thoroughly dried, it may be stored back in the package. Take note, the silicone diaphragms on the dials may stick from moisture build-up or after drying from cleaning. Simply set dials to setting 1, then breathe strongly through the device once to release the moisture seal.
