How effective is this on spiders?

Does not work on spiders. Not very effective on stable flies either. I am going to change products next refill. I think my insects have become immune to it. Worked very well in The beginning.

shelf life of product?

Really don't know. I can say we buy when drum is empty for fly spray system. Has lasted 2 years mixed up in drum. Hope this helps.

I am looking for concentrate for a fly system in a horse barn. can anyone tell me if this works as well as the $200 bottle? i would love to save $$

The label on the bottle has the mixing concentrations for various applications. Typically, and what I use, is 1/2 gallon of the product in a about a 55 gallon drum. The rest is water, of course. My system is set to spray for 30 seconds twice daily. In a single 24 period, I noticed an 80% drop in flying insects around the building.

does it damage the plants?

Yes it does. It leave an oily layer on everything it is spray on, and yes for small ornamental plants it kills their leafs.
