Does the alarm go off when there is steam from a shower down the hall?

I hung mine about two (2) feet from my bathroom door and I have never had the alarm go off when I take a shower. I would have to say, "no."

It appears listed product dimensions are off. Chart says 7" but others say 4" in diameter. Can someone please advise the depth of the item?
