“Each [Fudge book] is packed with wacky earthy disasters that are her trademark and that children love to read about . . . Judy Blume has a knack for knowing what children think about and an honest, highly amusing way of writing about it.” — The New York Times The complete five-book set of Judy Blume's bestselling Fudge books! A perfect gift for anyone dealing with the universal experience of grade school--or any adult looking for a classic read from a beloved author. In this box set you’ll find: • Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing • Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great • Superfudge • Fudge-a-Mania • Double Fudge The incredible wit and humor of Peter Hatcher and his mischievous brother Fudge have been captivating and delighting readers for decades – not to mention making them laugh out loud. These books are a classroom favorite and an all-time classic. Review: Classic, Still a Favorite Collection for Young Readers - This box set was purchased for my 3rd grade son who was constantly requesting new books to devour. These were surprisingly not in his school's library, but I'd grown up with them myself so I ordered them from here. Judy Blume's knack for writing from the perspective of an awkward preteen is still a goal most authors strive for. The humor throughout is age appropriate, but not so sugar-sweet that it reads like nursery rhyme. It touches lightly on first crushes, the shocking (and oddly hilariously written) death of a pet, and the ever popular theme of sibling rivalry. The books are just as good as they were in the 80s and 90s. I'd had concerns that the jokes or settings would be dated and feel out of place since the books came out so long ago, but they have held up very well over time. My son followed along just fine, and I personally didn't notice too many overly nostalgic quips that would need to be explained to a modern day youngster. There's a surprising amount of character development in these young characters as the books progress throughout the childhoods of Peter and Fudge Hatcher, two brothers that love each other, but whose differences in age and personality often result in frustration and amusing conflicts for the reader. It is VERY important to note that this book series addresses the Santa Claus issue in "Superfudge." If you want your youngsters to maintain their innocence on the topic, do not let them read this particular book in the series until you, and they, are ready. This particular book in the series also touches on light flirting, such as hand holding and little kisses on cheeks. There is a scene where characters are involved in a minor fight as well. It should be noted though, that nothing is introduced that is inappropriate by most family's standards. This series was and remains a staple classic in children's literature. I highly recommend these books for parents that are struggling to pique their children's interest in reading when most subject matter is unappealing to your young readers. Review: Love judy blume - Great book for 10 or 11 year old

Took me back to my childhood!
I bought these Judy blume books for my granddaughter. I read all of Judy blume's books when I was a child 40 years ago! Still great! Durable, great images on the covers, a substantial read. Box set is great quality for the money! I would recommend 👌 Peace

Great for a 9 yrs old boy reader!
I learned about this series from a friend who has read the books as a child himself (so, I'm guessing late 1970s or early 1980s). My son has devoured the whole 5 books series in a few days. The stories are easy enough to follow for a 9 year old and they are very funny (for a 9 year old). It's about a family with 2 brothers, the younger one - a 2 year old Fudge- being the main source of exasperation and fun for all involved. My child would just randomly laugh out loud and then rush to me to read me a sequence in the book - something that truly warms my heart. For most young readers, it's all about the content and this is a funny, totally appropriate material. Definitely recommend.

Blast from the past!
I read these books as a kiddo, then as a teenager I read ever single thing that Judy Blume wrote. I loved it. She is a great writer and definitely sees life and children in a true light. I bought this set for my daughter as our at home summer reading-she loved them too and it was super fun hearing her describe the antics of Fudge and his family. Took me back for sure.

Good Classic Series, especially for early readers who don't need pictures to stay involved in the story
I loved these books and was happy when the 8 yr. old got interested in them. He likes to read, but favors books with pictures (graphic novels). He has been reading these for over a year. He started bringing them home from the school library and then he requested more. I give the set 4 stars instead of 5 because he seemed to lose interest quicker than usual. He has gone back to these books here and there, but not as often as he rereads other series with graphics, like the Bone books or Captain Underpants books. Maybe the books are all pretty similar? I'm guessing this series is just not especially captivating for him as he prefers more action in addition to pictures.

Great stories for 8-12 year olds
Bought these stories for a Christmas present for a 9 year old grandson. The series starts with a child in grade 4 and then moves on each year. The story mainly covers the funny antics of a younger brother, something very relatable for many kids. Our son loved reading Judy Blume books as a child. They are wholesome and entertaining. No need to read them first to check out the language and storyline is acceptable.
