Capital Bride (Matchmaker & Co.) [Woolf, Cynthia, Woolf, Cynthia] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Capital Bride (Matchmaker & Co.) Review: Very good book to read - A very good book to read. This is book is written by Cynthia Woolf and is very nicely written. It has an excellent story line of loss, romance, and love in it. A woman travels West, with her daughter, to escape her cousin. She is a mail order bride to a rancher and when they meet love does bloom. A very enjoyable book to read and read again. Loved it Review: A page turner and a great read that has a few issues but I loved the story - I thought this was a wonderful read that has a few issues. I did find a few things hard to believe, I will say it did make the story more interesting. I felt that for the time period the author wrote in that a little of the story line was over the top. I am torn on how many stars to give because it really was a great, interesting read that kept your attention and really a page turner. The author does give you mystery, pain, sorrow, love along with the characters having trust issues they must overcome. I feel sure somewhere in history this story did play out in some parts just not in the parts that were over the top. With the above in mind the few things I had issues within the time period were: Women were raised to be shy, I would think that on meeting a stranger that she wouldn’t remove clothes and lay on top of a bed the first night of marriage to said stranger she just met that day with never even have wrote to him. I felt the story moved a little fast in a few things. William turned out to be mean and said he hurt children before. Never was there a sign of this he seemed to me a wonderful man and then stated he loved bring pain and it had been a while since he hurt a child but would really enjoy it. Now it could have been written just to scare the little girl which would go with the story line but the author never clears this up. There were a few other little issues not any that were that important. With the above said I do have to say it does add to the story line and makes it a much better read. This was a really good read with lots of passion. It is a page turn and has a lot of what you love in a old west romance. The author gives you wonderful characters that are very likable and sweet, ones you would be proud to call friends or even family. I loved how Sarah and John raised both their girls together and loved them equal. This family is what family is all about. It is an easy flow read, you have to keep turning the pages to see what the author has in store for you. It is a fast moving read that you will want to finish at one setting. Even though I didn’t find this story to be believable I totally loved the plot and story.

Enjoyable
Possible spoilers ahead. I thought this book was a nice easy diverting read. Yes, it was billed as a historic romance but there wasn’t much history involved other than the culture and technology that framed the tale. Perhaps the primaries’ attitudes were a bit too ‘modern’ for some, but who really knows? The story flowed well and the characters were engaging and likeable. There were no super surprise plot twists that came out of nowhere. No extraordinary feats of daring do or superhuman effort by any of the players. It was just a cohesive logical telling of a period in the main subject’s life. I can recommend it as a short-term escape from the complicated lives and times we currently live in. Warning! Some of the physical romancing was more explicit than I expected, but not as detailed so to rate a triple X.

Awesome Book
What a good reading book. This book has everything in it. The storyline was excellent. All of the characters were amazing. I am happy that all of the good people found each other. The really awful character got a very hard yank that he deserved.

Sweet Story
Capital Bride by Cynthia Woolf (Matchmaker & Co. Series, Book 1) I requested this book to review through Nerdy Girls Book Reviews, but ended up getting it through a free promotion at Amazon (since I was not officially provided the book by Cynthia Woolf, I don’t know if I need this disclaimer, but just in case. . . .). I have read many good reviews of Cynthia Woolf’s books, and even though I do not generally read romances with western settings, I thought I would give this a try. What I liked: I really liked all of the main characters: John is a gentleman, with a lovely little girl, who his still reeling over the death of his wife. Sarah is a woman who wants to make a good life for her daughter, and knows that she has to leave what is familiar to her to make that wish come true. The little girls, Katy and Mary Ann, are typical little girls who become fast friends right away. Mary Ann is just a go-with-the-flow girl who helps Katy overcome a past tragedy. Even Bertha, John’s housekeeper/cook, is good natured and easy to like. The story of these strangers becoming a family is very sweet, and the romance is believable. One of my favorite things about the book was the honest way everyone dealt with each other – John, Sarah, Bertha, Katy and Mary Ann all talked about their feelings, and I liked that. What I didn’t like: There were two separate conflicts within the story and I think the first one, involving Katy, was kind of swept away. I was kind of looking forward to a little bit more in this situation. It was resolved basically in two sentences and I felt a little cheated. The second conflict was kind of surprise, so that was good, and it was dealt with in a more satisfying manner. Overall, this was a very sweet book about likeable people. I plan to continue with the Matchmaker Series – there is a little hint about the next story within this story, so I’m ready for the next one!

Romance, Courageous Bride, Strong Groom, Danger, Humor...a Winner!
Rarely have I given a 5 star review. I love this detailed, well paced and romantic story. The bedroom scenes are hot and well written without becoming edgy and erotic. The interactions between the couple read true to life with arguments that reconcile with sometime agreeing to disagree and sometimes with humor. The plot has a villain or two. The rancher is a strong, loving man who is a good father as well. The bride a strong, caring woman who has learned how bigoted and unforgiving society can be. She has survived loss and now is starting another chapter of her life. I highly recommend this book.

Capital Bride Book 1 of the Matchmakers & co series was an enjoyable story of romance and action. The children became a good part of the story line making it a real family story.
