Canon PowerShot SX610 HS - Wi-Fi Enabled (White)

I’ve been using the Canon PowerShot SX610 HS for a while now, and I’m truly impressed by its performance. The camera is lightweight, easy to carry, and perfect for travel or casual photography. We have used the SX610 for four months and love it. It replaced our older ELPH 160 purchased several years ago. The performance and quality of the new SX610 is amazing. The most important thing is the size, small enough to fit into my pants pocket. It is always with me and ready to get that unexpected picture. It is fully automatic and simple to use. The battery and SD storage card fit into the bottom just like our old camera. The side has a covered opening for plugging into the computer. On the left is a little button that pops up the flash which is simply pushed back down with not needed. A little finger grip is provided on the right front to aid is use. Controls on the back are easy to use but optional for those folks just wanting a "point and shoot". Picture quality is outstanding. Very highly recommended. (One of my pictures attached shows a quarter taken with the SX610 in macro mode.)

Although smartphones have decent MP and convenient, I still like to have a good camera on me, pictures just look nicer with a good megapixels and zoom. My kids have a lot of assemblies and performances in school, and I don't always get a good seat. So the 18x Zoom works great for times when I'm far away from them. Regardless if I'm zooming in for a picture or video, the outcome is great! I've used pretty much all the features on the camera and they're all working great, pictures come out better than I expected. The only thing I wish it had was a touch-focus, like on the smartphone or Galaxy Camera, once in a while, the focus wouldn't catch on the object/person I want it to.

Like other reviewers, I seem to have gotten one of the lesser cameras that was made in China. I don't believe it's a bootleg or a fake but rather a later model the company made with lesser quality. I purchased this so I could have better photos for my online sales but it's been absolutely disastrous -- everything is grainy, it can't take decent photos unless it's bright outdoor light. I hardly use this but instead use my Android camera which does better, which tells you something, since Android cameras are notoriously bad. My 10-year-old Canon PowerShot does better and it has ostensibly worse specs than this does. When I first used it for some late night shots of a cake with candles and no lights on, it worked great, but once I started changing settings it stopped working as well. I reset it to factory original settings with no help. I can compare the photos from the first night I took it out of the box to those I took after resetting it and there is a marked difference -- the blacks are mottled, the colors muted, the overall tone leaning toward a brownish tint I have to get rid of in editing. Like others, I was also unable to register this for the warranty and didn't realize what had happened until it was past the time I could return the camera. Please don't buy this camera unless you can see one in person and verify it is one of the better quality models made in Japan. I wasted a couple hundred dollars on this and have been disappointed for a very long time.

Overall quality is 🔥; it’s incredibly portable and focuses automatically when clicking the button to take a photo. It connects super easily to my phone with the canon app. Only down side is the shutter isn’t the quickest, it takes about 2 seconds before being able to take another picture, but this can be changed in settings.

Camera came in on time like it said, Everything works perfectly. They wrapped everything up nicely . Battery Life is good. They even charged the battery ahead of shipping it. Very easy to use.

A mid-sized point-and-shoot looking for its niche in the smartphone era. It's good-enough and easy to use. But it's a little bulky for what it does, the non-touch interface feels dated, and the low-light performance is terrible. Niche uses for a camera like this: * Travel / risky situations: Currently the SX610 is a third the price of a mainline smartphone. And you don't want to be whipping out your fancy Iphone 6s when you're traveling abroad, anyway... Using a P&S reduces the risk of losing or breaking your phone, or having to show off your SLR kit in sketchy places. * Traditionalists: Your stick-in-the-mud uncle who wants a camera to be a camera, but doesn't need fancy gear. * Kids: Let them take pics without risking your Iphone, or risking them posting something inappropriate when shooting with a smartphone. But in that case, one of the cheaper Canon Elphs is a better bet. * 2nd camera: Mark the spots where you want to come back with your fancier camera. Pictured: SX610 next to a 5" LG Nexus 5 (2013). Some details: * Screen: Reasonably bright, but it begs to be a touch screen, and holding the camera 2-handed while going through the menus feels awkward. * Low Light: There are 3 low light modes. In the handheld low-light mode, 5MP shots are taken very briskly. But they're actually terrible quality unless fully lit (but they do come out). In long-exposure mode, the camera should be on a tripod or other solid surface. In a third low-light mode (the one I liked best), results are somewhere in the middle. But in all cases, very noisy, dark images that blur on even minor motion. And if you don't use a low-light mode? In "P" or "Auto", the camera defaults to settings that are very slow, emphasize shake while underexposing-- completely unusable in dimly lit locations. * Focus & Shoot: Fast focus selection, fast shooting, even using a slow old Sandisk SDHC card. * Size: Compact enough for a pocket, but awkward if that isn't a coat pocket. Roughly the size of a 4.5" cell phone (pictured with a 5" 2013 LG Nexus 5) but much heavier. Grippy spots on front and back show it's meant to work one-handed, but I found that I couldn't hold it one-handed and STEADY when pressing the shutter (I have average sized male hands and good grip strength). Combined with using the controls, this is definitely a 2-handed camera, but uncomfortably so, especially if you're trying to not cover the flash or push on the lens housing. If you don't need it to fit in a pocket, the SX400 series is easier to hold and has larger zoom ranges. * Flash: The external flash (manually) pops somewhat awkwardly, but is more powerful than an Elph's. The pop-up lets it be more offset, but the resulting pics are still washed out. Good range and power. * Kit: Minimal like most Canon Point&Shoots. No cables, no SD card, no full manual (quick-start manual is included). Charger, battery, and wrist strap are included. Before smartphone cameras got as good as they are now, this little shooter would have been 4 stars. Today, its limited usefulness and average performance hold it back to 3 stars. Since my goal was a low-light camera to carry for nightlife and travel, I'm returning this one and will try the more expensive SX710. If that one doesn't work, I'll be stuck moving up to the G series or over to the new compact "mirrorless" ILC cameras. While it's a thoroughly functional "average" camera, the SX610 is recommended only if you fit into one of the described niches. Everyone else is better off using their smartphone, bumping down to the cheaper Elphs (or bulkier 400 series superzooms), or up to the prosumer G series.

I couldn’t have asked for something better. Simply because better doesn’t exist. This company did such a good job because even though it was a “used” camera, it was brand spanking new. I love this camera so much

I love the camera ..its small, cute and meets my expectation. I needed a capable, versatile camera which takes decent low light/indoor pictures and most importantly fits in my pocket (I was not looking at a DSLR quality pictures) - this camera is perfect for my requirements and with the monster optical zoom thrown in, it exceeds my expectations. The picture quality is very good when shooting daytime outdoors and remains quite decent when shooting evening time indoors under normal home lighting with no grains whatsoever. Under extreme low light (candle light with no flash), I would certainly expect grainy pictures given the capabilities of the camera however one cannot get everything at this price point . Canon has added quite a few neat tricks like auto zoom in this camera which adds to the great impression that this product creates. Capable auto focus mode with neat macro mode thrown it .. decent ISO range , full HD video recording Love the Camera connect app of Canon which enables one to seamlessly pull pictures from the camera onto the phone as long as both are using the same wi-fi network ..neat !

Honestly I don't know what the other reviews are all about but this camera performed flawlessly it took excellent quality pictures Some comprable to some of the pictures my daughters professional grade camera took and really I have no complaints the wifi ... works easily both connecting to my Google Drive and to my tablet easily. Has a lot of the features that I note on higher priced DSLR cameras. Uploaded directly to Facebook including text caption although creating the text caption is a little bit awkward to create. Some of the program features seem silly to me ... example toy camera effect but I guess some people like that stuff. all in all a pretty decent camera that fits comfortably in your pocket

What a great little camera. Easy to use, small enough to fit in my pocket. Just came back from vacation for 10 days, and this was the predominant device used. Nice viewing screen, and you can transfer your pictures very easily between camera and a tablet and/or computer via wireless connection. I'm very happy with this camera!
