The absolute best cold pad we have ever bought. You cannot find this size anywhere but here. It is portable and clean and are so easy to use. One side has soft material backing while the other side is a gel-type material that when it freezes is still very pliable and can be folded if desired. Two or so hours in the freezer and it is ready to go. We have had these in our freezer for several years and have gifted some to friends. A very thoughtful gift indeed.

I have NEVER written a review before on Amazon. The reason I am now is that these ice packs are just the absolute best!!!!! Reliable in staying cold- for about an hour at a time. This is far longer than other ice packs I have used. It is partly how big it is, it can easily cover your lower back comfortably. Durable and long lasting- I have finally had to replace my very old ice packs after about 8 years of very heavy use. I have such bad back pain at times that I lie in bed on the weekend with an ice pack constantly on my back, rotation to a fresh one, of the 3 I own, every hour. My back is much better now but I still use the 3 ice packs very regularly. If you have one that leaks after only a few months or a year, you got a bad one. I guarantee these are the BEST ice packs. One of mine developed a leak today so I ordered 3 new ones tonight. I have been anticipating this day of a leak occurring for quite a while but it finally happened. I have gotten my money out of them many, many times over! Good luck! Update on 9/20/15: Just want to reiterate how wonderful these ice packs are. The 3 I bought in March of 2013 are still in perfect condition with very heavy use!! If only my back was as good as my ice packs! Please don't hesitate with this ice pack. If you have chronic pain like me and cold helps, this is the ice pack for you!

Works well. Plastic on back is harder and less flexible than a previous ice pack but works well and like it better than others I've tried.

Update: I’m not sure what they did, but I bought a new one for I’ve moved and my old one was left behind in my freezer, and this new one busted all over my recliner a white chalky staining glue like substance! I had only had it two weeks when this happened, and although it was less than a month, they would not let me send it back for a refund. I read it’s being made different now, so I switched to a different brand and I’m somewhat happy. I miss the felt backing this one had, but the new one is long lasting flexible gel and durable like this one used to be. Steer clear for they are made cheap now. Old- I have used many ice packs in my 40 active years. Most have to have a towel around them, and eventually the pack gets a hole and leaks, and yet another one goes to the trash can. This one is a tough casing that after 9 months now since I have bought this still works like new. What I LOVE the most is the soft blue fabric side... the right amount of covering to get maximum cold on your ache without stinging skin or insulating you from cold like a towel does. I will always return to this brand when I ever need to replace this. It has been great for my back, head (migraines), and shoulder. Hope this helps some people out. I have wrote few reviews.

This is the perfect cold pack. My mother had found one at a substantially higher price than I got it for on Amazon and I searched high and low for the exact same thing. Bingo! I found it here and purchased two. I keep one in the freezer and one in the refrigerator for varying uses. The pack is large and will lay over a very big area comfortably without slipping. It has two sides so you can either have a really cold feel or you can lay it on the other side and the fabric keeps frost bite away. I've used this pack repeatedly for so many things I don't know how I lived without one before. You can't go wrong with this pack and will want more than one if you have all the aches and pains we seem to have at our house.

I agree with most of the positive reviews here about this product for its effectiveness, but I totally disagree with anyone who says this product's durability is good. It does not "last forever" what a joke. I have purchased 4 of these, and all 4 have started leaking at the seam after about 6 months to 1 year of frequent gentle use. My wife uses them for headaches and backaches, on average she probably uses them every other day. We take excellent care of them, they still look brand new. When putting them in the freezer we fold them gently in half. When using them for headaches, she leaves it folded, and places it on her forehead. For her back she flattens it and lays on top of it, with it under the small of her back. Every one has started leaking. However, the location of the leaks are not at the fold, they are always in the seams at the side edge between the 2 outermost panels. The leaks have never been between the 2 center panels where it is folded. We never lay on top if it when its folded. The material doesn't rip or tear, the seal between the two materials seems to open up. This leads me to believe that the manufacturing process to seal the two surfaces together is poor. Update 7/21/2013: There seems to be 3 different materials used for the white side over the past few years: 1: matte and smooth, 2: matte and rough, 3: shiny and smooth. The ones with the white side made of matte and smooth material don't seem to be made anymore. They lasted about 6 months - 1 year of daily use. The ones with the white side made of matte and rough material lasted about 3 weeks. I had 2 of them, both started leaking. Received 2 more as replacements, those also started leaking after a few weeks. Received 2 more as replacements, but these were made of a different material, these new ones were shiny and smooth. The shiny and smooth material seems to hold up good so far. I have 2 of them, got them about 6 months now, and still holding up well.

I have had one given to me a few years ago & I live by this- as I have constant use of it. After an accident lately I found one this here & got another-several spots need it! All the family now want to know where I got it. It has 2 sides for different use...read paper that comes with it...it penetrates the cold so good if needed. May you have as good a luck with this item...I'm sure you will EDIT: I must say the new size is a nuisance & wish you had left it alone. First for storage & secondly for using it with those 4 points sticking out serves no purpose but aggravation. I love the quality as the old style had too & wish you read the reviews- I am not alone.
