Basting Tape, Double Faced, 3/8" x 50 Yard Roll

I used this for French seams on a vinyl seat cover. It worked very well to both hold on the reinforcement ribbon and hold some tricky seam areas in place. I didn't have too much trouble with the adhesive gumming up my needle but did have to clean it with rubbing alcohol a few times. The only complaint I have is that I taped everything up on a seam but didn't get it stitched right away. I came back to it the next day and it had all loosened up and had to be stuck down again. Not a big deal because the tape was still plenty sticky and held again with a little pressure.

This basting tape is the answer for difficult sewing projects. I was making a University of Washington large cushion cover and this tape let me sew without using every pin in my arsenal! It cut my sewing time in half as I used very few pins and all the layers held together. I did notice some stickiness on my sewing machine needle at times, so I used an alcohol gauze wipe to remove it from the machine needle, for ease of sewing. While stitching one area, I found I had to sew continuously through an alcohol gauze strip so the thread would not keep breaking. I am an occasional sewer, so maybe someone else has found an easier solution when this problem occurs. I did have long seams and did sew rather rapidly, so maybe that added to the “GUMMING”.

From the other reviews I thought this would really stick well - but it only seems average to me.

i wish i could give it 0 stars. the adhesive is ok, but my roll was wrapped with shrink wrap and is out of round- wont fi in a tape dispenser. worse than that, the transfer paper does release correctly, the adhesive stays on the rool so its a 3" sticky mess. no matter what I try, the release paper peels first and the adhesive stays on the roll.

I use this tape to baste leather, cork and vinyl together mostly for sewing bags. Also bastes zippers. A lot of tape for a descent price. I try to not sew over the tape as I don’t have an industrial sewing machine but do have a powerful domestic machine. The tape could gum up the needle. Faster and less messy than using glue and clips.

Very sticky, works well if you need that, didn’t need that iron on stuff, this works for fabric binding. Took a very long time to get.

Good product

Worked good on a sunbrella fabric for a boat project. I would buy again.

I used this on a boat bimini top only to find out after a few weeks the glue was bleeding out around the stitches. It was most obvious because the fabric was beige and now it has dark brown tracks and the stitching is discolouring. No problem with it sticking to sunbrella and zippers. Very difficult to get off if you make a mistake. I won't be using this product again.

Adequate, but there has to be better quality. Cover did not detach without great effort. While adhesion to fabric was weak. It will wreck a zipper if you use too close to the teeth.
