Great value vanilla set for frequent bakers
I’ve been using the Danncy Vanilla Dark & Clear 33 oz 2 Pack for baking and dessert recipes, and it’s a great value for anyone who goes through a lot of vanilla. Both bottles are generously sized, which makes this especially convenient for frequent baking. The dark vanilla has a rich aroma and strong vanilla flavor that comes through nicely in cakes, cookies, and quick breads. A little goes a long way, and I’ve found I can sometimes use slightly less than recipes call for. The clear vanilla is perfect for frostings, whipped cream, and light-colored desserts where you don’t want to add any tint. The flavor is lighter than the dark version but still works well for these uses. Packaging arrived sealed and in good condition. If you’re used to standard grocery-store vanilla, the flavor profile is a bit different, but in a good way once you adjust. Overall, this is a solid, cost-effective option for home bakers or anyone baking in larger batches. I would definitely purchase it again.

Pure vanilla extract.
Use this vanilla exclusively. Have recommended it to many people. Make sure when you purchase it that it says “pure vanilla extract “. I ordered some once just looking at the picture and it was not pure vanilla, I have used this vanilla for the last 20+ years. Flavor cannot be beat.

Fantastic repellant for nats and mosquitoes
I bought the clear and dark vanilla and to be honest to me the dark doesn't smell at all of vanilla and the taste was unbearable. I don't cook with vanilla, but this my sound crazy to people but, I swear it works. I love to fish and I'm always pestered to death by nats and mosquitoes. I was told a long time ago that nats and mosquitoes hate the smell of vanilla. I have spent hundreds of dollars on mosquitoe spray that never really works and then smell like the spray afterwards. I bought a spray bottle just for this. So I tried the vanilla out a few days ago and it truly works mosquitoes and nats hate the smell of vanilla. Another thing I like about it is you can spray your face and not worry about chemicals getting into your eyes and mouth. Ater I spayed myself I sat in my chair on the lake I was at and sat and watched as a swarm of mosquitoes came about a foot away from face and not a 1 came up to my face. I was truly amazed of how good it worked. So I just ordered 2 more bottles of clear vanilla so I want run out so fast. So if you don't a lot of fishing this is the ideal thing to use

Different but Good.
Given the price of food these days, I figured I'd give this a try as my daughter loves baking (and has gone through several smaller bottles of vanilla) and you definitely get a lot for your money. As stated by several other reviewers, it does have a slight cinnamon/coconut flavor to it. Fortunately, both my wife and daughter love the way it tastes and they feel it improved the flavor of several baked goods. I felt it added to the chocolate chip cookies she made and made the flavor of the chocolate stand out more. But when she tried it in my mom's buttercream icing recipe, it didn't taste the same. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the taste I grew up with, so it's hard for me to adjust. On the plus side, having the clear vanilla made for a whiter frosting. Well worth the purchase. We will definitely purchase again, but you get so much, it probably won't be for a while.

Here's the reason why this is love or hate type of vanilla
I grew up eating foods flavored with Mexican vainilla. It's a mild coconutty/cinnamon scented vanilla flavor. It is a well rounded and soft flavor. There's no sharpness to it, no bite of alcohol etc. That's essentially the flavor of Mexican Vainilla. Now vanilla extract that is commonly sold here in the US is a sharp and very flavorful vanilla taste. It's pungent from the bottle and can mellow out a bit in cooking but you can still taste that sharp vanilla flavor. It can be slightly bitter as well because of the alcohol. I love both flavors but they are very different. So if you are expecting the pure vanilla bean flavor with a bite? This is not for you. If you are expecting a sweeter and as stated coconutty/cinnamony vanilla flavor? These are for you.

Good flavor and price
My sister gave me this product years ago and I have used it since. I bake a lot and find this is the best priced way to buy vanilla. I like the fact that there is a clear one too, for glazes and light-colored frostings. Very good vanilla taste.

Not really pure vanilla
OK, long story. I first had some of this at the home of my x-wife and liked the flavor so much that I wanted to get some. Some of the reviews said it was not pure vanilla extract which confused me. But none of them went into much detail about why they thought it was not pure vanilla. The closest they came was the taste was wrong. But taste is subjective. I got some anyway just in order to run some tests on it. Alas, testing for Vanillin is not a possibility in my lab. Nevertheless, I planned to test side-by-side the Danncy product against the Rodelle Organic Vanilla Extract product that I already had. I have a chemistry degree and a small home lab so this seemed like a fun thing to do on a Sunday night. I took two flasks with 200 ml (@ 1 cup) of Whole Cow’s milk. I added to one 4 ml (@ 2 tsp) of the Rodelle and to the other 4 ml of the Danncy. Mix them for the same about of time on my magnetic mixer and the taste each. That was the plan. I received the Danncy Vanilla today. I had an unopened bottle of Rodelle already. There was a very noticeable difference when I opened them. I did not notice anything when I opened the Rodelle bottle. When I opened the Danncy, I was immediately overwhelmed by the Vanilla smell. It was wonderful! Very powerful and rich. Then I read the label. I did not need to do the above testing. I just needed to look at the ingredients. Roddele: “ORGANIC VANILLA BEAN EXTRACT IN WATER AND ORGANIC ALCOHOL” (Caps not mine). Danncy: “Vanilla bean extract in water and natural favors”. What!!!! How can they claim to be pure vanilla and still have NATURAL FLAVORS added (Caps mine)? It is very ridiculous. I did go on with the testing but had to add 4ml before being able to taste the vanilla in any of the samples. At 4ml, I could taste it in Danncy "Vanilla". I still will use it but will not try to fool myself into thinking it is “pure”. I could have tested it with ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) but do not have lab-grade ascorbic acid on hand at this time.

A staple at my house. I bake a lot and this is quality Mexican vanilla at a reasonable price. Highly recommended

Doesn't smell anything like vanilla extract
This extract has a very strange chemically smell. I've used vanilla extract for many years and it's never smelled like this I sent a message to the supplier but got no reply. This will be returned.
