Is the poles are plastic?!

Yes, plastic tubes, but relatively sturdy.

What material is it made out plastic or mental?

It is made of plastic. The black corners that the white tubes fit into crack easily. The tubes also pop out of them easily. I ended up duct taping all the connecting joints and have had no problem so far.

Is the size 54x36 the length and width of each goal or combined

That is the length and width of each goal. Be wary these things do not stay together for long and my kids couldn't use them bc they are so cheap. I threw them away after they played with them twice
