Minus a star because the lower joint does not move. See photo. In retrospect it should have been pretty clear that it does not move based on close examination of the pictures. But then why the springs on the lower joint? If all 3 joints were articulating then this would be a solid 5 stars. All in all this is not a bad light, especially for the price. Still, I'd like to find one just like it that is fully articulating. EDIT: Feb 2018 Up to 5 stars. After reading several reviews of this light on other websites, I discovered that others had gotten the lower joint to move simply by removing two screws. See photo. I suspect the manufacturer added these locking screws as a design "improvement" after several reports of the lamp tipping over. The new LED bulbs are much heavier that the old filament bulbs, and the lamp will tip over with even a modest movement of the lower arm. If you do remove the locking screws, test the lamp stability by giving it the wiggle test (push it slightly and see if the tendency is to return or tip over).

I was looking for a simple effective task lamp that would accept a medium-base LED bulb (that is, the standard, universal E26 / E27 Edison base). Now that I can get high-lumen LEDs with a variety of hues / color settings, all I needed was a lamp that could accept such a bulb. The next thing I wanted was a light I could turn on and off easily and quickly (that is, not fumbling for a switch attached to the cord). This lamp fits the bill perfectly. I am now purchasing my third lamp for a 3rd task table. Yes, the base hinge has zero mobility but that's not been a problem--I just pull the lamp where I need to. If need be, I can quickly reposition the rest of the arm (and quickly twist-to-retighten the two controls at the joints), and I'm good to work. No bells and whistles; just a quick, simple, reliable task lamp that allows me to choose my own specific brand of lighting, and get back to work. UPDATE DECEMBER 2019: I am now purchasing a 4th lamp. The 3 previous lamps I purchased have stood the test of time. Still overall a 5-star rating for absolute reliability and ease of use. ONE CLARIFICATION ABOUT THE BASE: the base is actually quite weighty and sturdy. As long as the set screw remains screwed into place at the bottom of the lamp, the lamp will not tip over. (The set screw prevents the lamp apparatus from rotating freely and independently while the base itself stays in position. With the set screw in place, if I want to rotate the lamp, I need to rotate both the base and the lamp at the same time. I see this as such a minor, occasional problem it is hardly worth mentioning except that other commenters have said that this is a major inconvenience for them.)

Okay, not to be a pessimist but I'm going to start with the negatives. 1) Swivel is extremely limited after inserting base screw and you have to lift up the arm part a bit to get the screw in which makes it feel like it's not all the way down sitting firmly on the base, it just doesn't feel fully stable or functional at the piece where the base plate meets the arm. It doesn't greatly detract from the lamp if you're not planning to swivel it though. 2) The lamp head is pretty loose even after tightening the screw quite a bit...it holds its place well enough but still droops a few mm's when I let go. I'm afraid to keep tightening as I don't want to break it. Not the biggest deal if you don't plan on adjusting the head a lot. 3) When it came it had 2 (seemingly unnecessary) screws in the bottom hinge for some reason, this completely prevented the bottom hinge from moving at all, essentially stripping it's ability to 'swing', which kind of defeats the purpose of the lamp. After removing these two screws you gain the ability to swing the bottom hinge, restoring functionality, as long as you don't tilt it too forward or else it falls over. Not really a fault of the lamp, you can only expect it to go so far forward before physics takes over and tips it. But, yea, why the hell are those screws there? What am I missing? http://imgur.com/rjk3C2n As you can see if you leave the one screw in it's right in the path of any movement, and the other screw actually goes right into one of the bars. Positives: 1) Value of the lamp, it's quite tall and pretty nice looking for 20$. 2) Looks nice and functions well enough and feels pretty solid, none of the negatives were really game changing, more like little annoyances. Neutral; 1) Kind of wish it came with both a base plate and a desk clamp, I don't imagine that would add much to the price and would be nice to have. Not faulting the product at all for this though given its price. So yea, I'm rating this 4/5. Would consider lowering the rating if any of the negatives mentioned become a serious problem in the future, although that doesn't seem too likely.

Fantastic. Very good quality. Perfect for so many uses. Reasonable price and I would recommend it to anyone. I read some negative reviews and the issue is that at one time this was a different fixture. If you got the old one with an external clamp, I feel your pain. I got the new one which looks exactly like the picture shown and is very high quality. I bought a second one just recently because I like it so much. Assembly is simple: 1] Install two springs by hooking one end of the spring over the bottom spring holder (located on the bottom part of the upper arm), then stretch the spring and hook it over the top spring holder (located on the top part of the upper arm) and release to create tension. There are two springs, so do this for both the right and left sides of the upper arm. 2] Unscrew the clamping screw from the bottom stem of the lamp, then screw it back in place with the lamp stem attached to the base stem. 3] Install the lamp cover by matching the beveled slots, insert 1/2 inch then rotate clockwise 1/2 inch. The lamp shade locks in place and can be removed at any time by reversing that operation. I put a 100 watt equivalent LED lamp in one and a 60 watt equivalent LED in the other one. I have also put an LED grow light in one for a while to start my baby herbs and pepper plants. This fixture will hold pretty much anything you want to put in it, but if the lamp is large and/or omnidirectional, you may omit the lamp cover/shade. My 100 watt LED bulb is 17w 120vac 60Hz 136mA 1600 lumens and is UL Listed. You could put an old analog light bulb in it, but I would stay at 40 watts or below. You could also put a CFL bulb in it, but I would stay at 60 watts or below, 75 watts being the upper limit. I suggest LED bulbs. The socket is called A19 in the United States (metric A60 for European), which I believe is the most common socket. CFL or Compact Florescent Lamp is the "curly cue" "new bulb" that replaces the old incandescent light bulb. I do not recommend those because if they break (and they do) they have harmful chemicals in them. If you use this light where children or animals can be, I would not suggest using CFL bulbs. LEDs are the "new bulbs" not CFL. CFL was a temporary solution to a bigger problem. LEDs are a better solution. Some people complain that LED light is artificial, but the technology is getting better, so be on the lookout for better more natural light producing LEDs. Also, the cost is higher, but they last much longer, so in the long run you get more bang for your buck.

I wanted two of these because the switch is on the top. Got two. 1 failed first time. I put an LED bulb in it and turned the switch. The switch snapped and just spins around. Makes no contact. Can't turn it on or off. Dead DOA. Then I set the other one up. Because the way it is designed, there's no forward or backward range of motion for the bottom section. Top moves, bottom is locked in place. Look at the "hinge area at the very bottom. Then go compare it to other lamps that lower section moves. This is a case of "I didn't know what to look for - before. Now I do. This one has 3 screws at the lower hinge area. Two lock the front (square) pole in place. That's why you can't move it forward or backward. I removed the two nut and screw and it moves forward and backward now. But its "lazy, has little support so its sloppy." So, bought two. One DOA. I could replace the socket with one without a switch to get it working. But that means spending more on something that has a bad design in the first place. Nope. $50 down the drain. Not even going to ask Amazon to take them back. Returns have been too much of a hassle. Going into the trash. Do yourself a solid at my expense. DON'T BUY THESE.

This light works, but I prefer the V-LIGHT Architect Style CFL Desk Lamp with Adjustable Arms and Heavy Duty Weighted Base (VS100502BC) . I use these adjustable lamps for my plants. I live in a downstairs apartment which is essentially a basement and has only one large window. Since I love my plants but don't have enough light for them, my solution was to purchase lamps and LED bulbs. I thought I'd give this lamp by Globe Electric a try because it's low price was irresistible. It's all right. It works and does illuminate my plants, but I prefer the V-Light. The two lamps look very similar but I have included side-by-side photos for comparison. My issues with the Globe Electric are: - the bottom arm is not adjustable unless you do a modification (as many other reviewers have mentioned) - its arms are not as long as the V Light, giving it less of a reach - the base is not as heavy and attaches off-center Please see my included images for reference. The base attaching not in the center is not a huge deal. It may result in the lamp being off-balance and tending to tip over, except that the bottom arm is not at all adjustable. I assume they designed it that way as a safety feature so that you can't tip the lamp over. But it's not ideal. Not only does the arm not change angle, meaning you can't raise or lower the bottom arm at all, but it can't be rotated in the base either. If you want to point the light in a different direction, you have to move the entire base. I read the other reviews saying they had to remove one of the screws in order to get the lower arm to move. I did that (please see picture) and it works! Don't know why we should have to go through this step when other lamps already come with the bottom arm being adjustable. The V-Light lamps I own can adjust at the lower arm and maintain their positions. Their bases are heavier, the arm is centered in the base, and the arms are longer giving it more height and potential to be adjusted to my liking. I own 2 V-Light architect lamps and may even buy another, but won't be purchasing any more Globe Electrics.

I love this lamp. I bought the "Rose" which is NOT rose at all it is absolutely PINK. Not a Hot pink or magenta but a pastel pink (NOT Rose). However the lamp is perfect for me. I needed a tall (it is tall)desk lamp that was adjustable and used regular "screw in" light bulbs not built in LED. A lot of desk lamps today have built in lights they claim will last a long time but burn out after a year or less then the you have to buy a new lamp. This lamp has a large weighted base. I will say that I was surprised at how large the base was (a good 7" in diameter"). At first I thought it would be too big and obtrusive on my desk because of the large base combined with it's tall height. But it's not at all obtrusive for me. I sat it on the desk monitor shelf at the corner at it was perfect. I noticed that this seller has different types of desk lamps (depends on the color). This review is for the "Rose" color lamp. This lamp is well built but if things change in its durability I will update this review.

La primera lámpara que tengo y me funciona muy bien, fue de fácil instalación y tiene muy buena estabilidad así que no me preocupa que se caiga, el color es mate y brillante. Llegó sin ningún daño, me encantó.

Estéticamente me gusta mucho y hasta ahora me ha funcionado muy bien, no se que tan duradera será y sobre todo la pantalla que no tiene mucha rigidez para acomodarla como se necesite

Its a good size for my desk, much taller than I expected, but thats on me. The color is cute, and its built to be sturdy (hopefully to last). I highly recommend this product!

I love how easy this is to assemble - it looks great. This works great as a desk lamp as it can move up and down as needed. My kids use this also to project more light for their on-line classes behind their camera. They also use it for their reading lamp on their bedside table. The only thing to caution you is that the light does warm up and feels hot to the touch. It is not hot on the on and off button or not hot if pushing it by the stand but just where the light shade that heats up to be quite hot. It is an affordable price and yet not made cheaply.

See my photos. This desk lamp is exactly what I wanted. It’s a traditional desk lamp style but with a beautiful soft pink colour. I took a photo of the lamp beside my pink cricut machine so you can see the difference in the colour. The lamp is a soft, dull pink. It’s not vibrant. It’s a pastel pink. It is matte, not shiny. It throws off a good amount of light and the height and angle are adjustable. It’s sturdy and well made, and a good size.
