Fieldpiece SC440 True RMS Clamp Meter with Temperature, Inrush Current, Capacitance and Backlight

Perfect meter. Very accurate. Best meter in my kit by far. Has all the functions and measurements most people would need outside of testing and lab conditions. Voltage, amperage, inrush current, capacitance, resistance, temperature, frequency, pretty much does it all. The included temp thermocouple was very accurate and right on the money right out of the box. You can also do temp calibration for a different K type sensor if you change it, but the Fieldpiece one was dead on while calibrating to ice water. Very nice silicone leads too, other companies just send PVC ones and you have to buy the upgraded silicone ones later, included here. Also a really nice carrying case included. It just has everything, and all the accessories included vs having to buy them later. Very accurate and reliable.

Value for money, magnet strength

I’m replacing a well used Fieldpiece SC76 model that I used almost daily at work for testing electric circuits HVAC testing capacitors, line voltage ,NCV temperature and at home my truck and motorcycle it’s always with me on the road checking voltage, continuity and resistance testing control systems like temperature sensor and airflow this new SC440 has almost the same footprint as the SC76 with many more features the magnet strap I didn’t like at first you have to remove it from the back of the unit and swing it around then it will stick to the metal casing where you need it it works great if you can stick it to the top of a evaporator or condenser and let it hang down the side but even on a flat surface I’ve had no problems with it staying put the flash light and backup lights don’t stay on long enough for me and are why I gave it less than five stars I love the canvas bag it’s just like my old SC76 and the bag is still perfect although the unit has lost features like captaincy, continuity audio is not working and I find it being effected by static when checking resistance it is off I use the SC440 and it is accurate even comes with a certificate of calibration I’m not working on as much HVAC now but it still comes in handy I was able to find a bad fan capacitor and with a set of cheap gages and a vacuum pump was able to fix a leak and get a 1.5 ton split system with 410 A charged and balanced out avoiding a service call for my employer NCV, Rush in amperage test and diode testing are upgraded features from the SC76 at $200 it took some thought as the old one I purchased back in the early 90es for about $120 or so on sale but if it lasts as long as the old one it will pay for itself hopefully I will not leave it out in the field in rain heat and cold as I have done when busy and on call I’m not sure this one could take it and I don’t intend to find out if you need all the features this model has then it’s worth the price Fieldpiece still makes quality testers geared for professional HVAC technicians

Great secondary meter. High quality and I believe it's the only brand making a HVAC clamp meter. With fluke you have to buy at least 2 meter to get as much functionality or twice the price. I'll carry this one for years to come

This works well in the application that it designed for gives the right readings all the time
