Evans E-Ring Pack, Rock-10, 12", 14", 16" (ER-ROCK)

After about a month of trying to dampen and tune my toms and snare to eliminate an annoying slightly perceptible ring...I broke down and tried these...and immediately....gone. Backing up a bit I have a mid level 5 piece Ludwig kit, nothing awesome but for an intermediate level drummer of 20 years it is fine for me. I swapped to straight acoustics set after many years of playing with mostly Alesis high end electronic kits. Now I know how to tune an acoustic kit pretty well and I make sure all my lug tensions are set properly and matching on all drums etc. I put on a better set of Aquarian coated batters and had the sound I wanted but..still this annoying slight ring that just irritated me. I spent a month trying different lug tension setups on the reso verses the batter...ahhhh..still that ring. It wasn't a resonance thing as I first thought...it was a ring. I could affect resonance by changes is the reso head tension sure but this was a fairly constant thing. Tried tape...nope..some gels...not really much better. Kind of ran out of ideas. It wasn't anything I could tune out and I hate using fugly tape etc...and I am not into using the moon gels. So..I saw these and thought well...whats another ten bucks...works or it does not. Well...it worked....as soon as I put them on....gone...GONE. Wish I would have tried them sooner but was not wanting to try yet another thing that did not quite do the job. May not work for for everyone and everyone may not like that dampening since this all a very personal thing. My drums are not your drums..my ears are not the same as yours...etc etc. But...these DO make a noticeable difference. May or may not be what a person may want but these do work. I was not expecting a simple mylar ring to make such a difference. Some difference sure...it has to but not, for me, to eliminate a very annoying issue. So bottom line...for ten bucks they make a noticeable difference. May or may not be the effect any one person wants, that’s the gamble but for a ten spot...it’s worth it.

Wow! These made such a difference in the sound of the drum heads. I would have never imagined.

Just what I needed to deadening the ringing. My kids and I are still in the learning phase. The toms woukd ring out so much and it just didn't sound right (playing in a small space). I put these on and it did the trick. The toms still have the right sound when hit, but don't keep going and going.

These things are awesome! For just under 10 bucks, you get rid of the overtones. I've used tape, moon gel, and some other homemade remedies but nothing works better than these rings. I play lots of hard rock, but my favorite music to play to is Rush. Neil Peart is God on the drum kit as far as I'm concerned. But I would often find myself unable to hear the specifics of each fill or roll I was playing due to the overtones. And let's face it --- a person has to be play accurately in order to play along to Rush. But in order for that to happen, a person's drum kit must sound good. These rings let the natural punch of the drums come through without drowning the rest of the sound in annoying overtones. Take a chance and buy these rings. For 10 bucks, you have nothing to lose and much enjoyment to gain. The difference in sound is like night and day. Trust me.

After seeing the multitude of positive reviews about this product to address the Overtones and ringing from Toms, I decided to try them. As soon as I placed them on my Floor Toms (14 X 12 and a 16 X 14 concept maple pdp drums), the difference was Music to My Ears. I have not yet tried them on the two smaller Rack Toms, but I will. Yes, I did replace the Stock Remo Heads that pdp uses, with Evans' G2 coated ( that too made a nice enhancement to the maple drums - special thanks to a Drum store who highly recommended them ,although I bought them via Amazon), but adding these E-Rings, made them Sing. They just seem very well married to each other, working in concept to bring a nice "warmer" - fuller sound ou of the Drum. Moreover, I do have 1 Moongell on each drum tapped down with Gaff tape. That's my formula that is producing the sound I desire to this 69 YO recreational drummer. For the $$$$, this is an absolute No- Brainer acquisition and should be part of your Drum Arsenal.
