Good work shoe with flexible sole.
This is my son's second pair . He doesn't have to have still toed shoes. These look nice and last. He works in a factory, on his feet all day. After the first pair wore down I purchased different types of shoes for him and returned all of them . He decided nothing felt as good as the Orthofeet men's Avery Island shoes. They have a flexible sole. They come in different widths and are very comfortable.

SHOES FIT LIKE A DREAM AND REQUIRE NO BREAKING IN PERIOD.
My husband loves these shoes! For a number of years he has suffered from planter fascitis, which robbed him of being as active as he likes and being able to remain on his feet for long durations of time. In addition to that, he has ongoing back issues, after having ruptured two discs. A few years ago we found a shoe brand and style that helped greatly. Although the shoes appeared well made and cost just over $100, the tops of the shoes would begin to separate from the soles after just a few months of wear. He job is that of supervisor; although he can do a lot of walking in his work day, it is inside on hard floor surfaces and carpeting - not outside on rugged terrain. Therefore, we expected the shoes to wear longer. After having to replace four pairs of shoes in just a two year period, we decided to shop around for another shoe option. Luckily, our research brought us to Orthofeet. Encourage by the positive reviews, I ordered him a black pair; they arrived in good time, well packaged. He normally takes a size 10 or 10.5M. But due his problem toenail issues and the fact that these shoes also come in double W (which made me wonder whether a M might run a little narrower than normal), I ordered him a size 10.5W. These Avery Island Comfort Orthopedic shoes fit my husband's feet like a dream and were 100% comfortable from day one - requiring no breaking in period. He loves them so much that I came online today to order him another pair, in brown. Thank you Orthofeet for manufacturing an orthopedic shoe that does what it should!

Great Pain Relief!!
I have neuropathy in my feet and swelling and metatarsalgia , sensitive and painful metatarsals. My current shoes are size 12, WWW and are still too tight. I bought the Avery Island style shoes by Orthofeet in size 12, extra, extra wide. It's very difficult to buy shoes over the internet without trying them on, but I was pleasantly surprised when these shoes arrived. They were very comfortable without any break-in. The sides come up straight and the shoes are wide at the top with a lot of space over the foot behind the toes. This is where my feet are swollen quite a bit. The shoes fit loosely without being floppy. I was able to remove the supplied insoles and insert my own soft rubber insoles with an arch support. The shoes themselves have a soft, cushioned bottom. This combination has reduced my pain and discomfort by about two-thirds. I can now leave my shoes on for quite a while without having to constantly remove them for relief. The shoes look very nice and look well-made. There are probably better shoes out there, but shopping over the internet makes them hard to find. These are keepers and have improved my walking and standing comfort by quite a bit.

space at last
This shoe in the extra wide size (the widest it comes) allows for great space for those who have foot problems including arthritic toes (my problem). Along with the shoe itself are two graduated inserts (in addition to the standard support insert) which allow for some adjustment to avoid heel slippage and to reduce slightly the the width of the shoe. This avoid some of the bunching that can occur in the instep because of the exceptional width. I enjoy the support and the fit while with a a tiny bit more than I need, is much appreciated. No loose heal, and no toe blisters.

THIRD PAIR - STILL SATISFIED Great purchase for people with diabetes or needing wide toe box
UPDATE 2/3/2018 —- This is my third pair of these shoes. I walk 4-6 miles every day with my dog for health reasons, averaging 30-40 miles per week. These shoes are so comfortable and tough that they last about a year of such punishing usage (about 2000 miles a year) and I would not consider getting any other shoes for exercising. The fit has been perfect each time, and the quality never varies and remains high. The rest of this review remains as true today as when I first wrote it. —— Substantial heft to the shoes. Fit was perfect for me, and I liked the fact that the maker includes two pairs of spacers (1/8" and 1/16") that the wearer can use to put under the insole to make the fit more custom if the shoe seemed too loose. The extra wide toe box is a blessing to me as I have problems with my toes crowding in on each other with shoes regularly available elsewhere. I am looking forward to getting a lot of comfortable use from these shoes (I walk 6-8 miles per day to control diabetes) based on how they fit. Fast delivery through USPS.

The ads were true: Most comfortable dress shoes I've ever put on.
In my day job, I work as an expert witness. This naturally involves being in courtrooms and swanky law firms, in which highly polished floors are common. For literally years, I've worn the same shoes (by Ecco) because they were the first nice looking dress shoes I'd ever found that were comfortable on my flat feet. But there's a problem with the Eccos, and I always seemed to forget about it until I got on one of these beautiful polished floors: On such floors, my old Eccos squeak. So every time I'd walk up to take the stand, it was EEP! EEP! EEP! EEP! I finally decided the squeak had to go. I didn't want to try another Ecco style because they'd probably have the same sole and the same problem. I kept seeing ads for the Orthofeet and decided to give them a try. OH. MY. GOSH. They are indeed the most comfortable dress shoes I've ever put on. They put the Eccos to shame. Soooo cushiony, and made even more so by the gel insoles that came with mine. They fit perfectly in every way, that cushioned step lasts throughout the day, and they don't squeak. ;) I'll be singing the praises of OrthoFeet for the rest of my life, and I just cannot recommend them strongly enough. All pros. No cons. Get some!

Comfortable
While I do like these quite well they aren't perfect. The outsole started showing wear in less than a week of wearing them. After a couple months I notice they were not as comfortable. One night I looked inside and discovered the insoles had worn completely thru. A new pair of insoles fixed the problem. These are not cheap shoes, so I didn't expect to be buying insoles so soon. Other than those two issues they have been great shoes. I have a hard time finding shoes that are wide enough in the toes, these fit great. Comfort wise I would buy them again. Outsole and insole quality may give me pause though.

Compared to Redwing
I have comfort issues for multiple reasons. These are the first ones I liked since Redwing stopped making the warehouse boot that I have had for decades.
