This is the best cat litter for my self cleaning litter boxes. With four cats and two litter boxes , it does a wonderful job keeping down any smells. I learned if you pour it slowly, it does not kick up dust.

It clumps tightly, locks in odor quickly, and lasts a good while with regular scooping. The packaging is sturdy, and the dual-box format (2 x 18.5 lb) is easy to manage and store. My cat Sophie never had any issues with the texture or feel of the litter. She used it without hesitation, and I never saw signs of avoidance or discomfort. But despite all that, I had to retire this product — not because it failed in its core function, but because it didn’t align with my respiratory needs or sensory boundaries. Let me explain. The Mountain Spring scent is bold. It’s designed to evoke freshness, alpine air, and a clean environment. But in practice, it’s strong enough to fill a room quickly — and for someone like me, who lives with asthma and a colostomy, that strength becomes a problem. I didn’t cough, but I had to be extremely careful not to inhale the scent directly. I found myself using a fan every time I scooped or changed the litter, just to blow the fragrance away from my nostrils and eyes. It wasn’t a casual precaution — it was a necessary part of the routine. Without the fan, the scent would linger in the air and make the room feel heavy, even when the litter box was clean. That kind of effort — positioning the fan, timing the airflow, avoiding direct exposure — became exhausting. It turned a simple task into a chore that required constant vigilance. And while Sophie didn’t protest the litter, she quietly understood the shift. When we switched back to the Hawaiian Aloha version — a gentler, more soothing scent — she adjusted immediately. No hesitation. No confusion. Just quiet agreement. It was as if she knew: “This is better for both of us.” I’ve purchased this Mountain Spring version multiple times — from Chewy, from Amazon — and I gave it a fair chance. But ultimately, I had to let it go. Not because it’s a bad product, but because it’s not the right fit for someone with respiratory sensitivities. The scent is simply too strong, too persistent, and too disruptive to my comfort. And when you live with asthma, those details matter. When you live with a colostomy, maintaining a clean, breathable environment becomes even more important. I’m giving it 4.5 stars because it’s a well-made litter. It performs exactly as advertised. It clumps, it controls odor, and it’s trusted by thousands. But I can’t recommend it for people with asthma or scent sensitivities. The fragrance, while marketed as “fresh,” can be overpowering in enclosed spaces, and it’s not worth the risk if you’re prone to respiratory discomfort or sensory overload. If you’re looking for a gentler alternative, I strongly recommend the Hawaiian Aloha version. It’s lighter, more tropical, and surprisingly calming. It fills the room with a breezy ambiance without triggering asthma symptoms or overwhelming the senses. Sophie and I both feel more relaxed with it, and it’s become our go-to litter for maintaining a peaceful, clean environment. So while I respect this product for what it offers, I won’t be returning to it. It’s not a failure — it’s just not compatible with my needs. And if you’re someone who values scent balance, respiratory comfort, and emotional ease in your living space, you’ll thank me later for choosing the Hawaiian scent instead.

It does well with odor control and scoopability. It does get a bit sticky, but it still scoops nicely. I would recommend it. The odor control is wonderful too. I have purchased it many times.

I have to say I love this product and so does my cat. If you haven’t tried it, the gain scent is a game changer will be buying more.

Bit pricey but my favorite to use. Clumps right and smells nice. Easy to scoop.

Tengo dos gatos y está marca nunca falla. Nopermite que los aromas salgan pero no tiene aroma tan concentrado, esto hace que no les moleste el olfato a mis gatitos

Tengo 3 gatos, uno de ellos tiene problemas renales por lo que siempre es muy difícil de que una arena aglutine su pipí y esta lo hizo a la perfección. Además que al ser tres, cubre el olor perfectamente. Lo único malo que veo es que no es mucha, es todo.
