Easy to install and it works!
Purchased the battery powered MySpool Water Alert with text/email notifications on a recommendation from a friend who had had one for years and said it works very well. I installed it to monitor if a high water level in my sailboat's bilge is triggering the automatic bilge pump by placing at the same level the bilge pump's float would trigger the bilge pump.It was very easy to install. Once connected to the WiFi, I tested it by both lifting the float by hand and by filling the bilge with water. It works. Tested it multiple times and each time the float rose I received a text message within 20-30 seconds.Very happy with the device and the reassurance it gives me and I hope it never needs to contact me!

Nice Sump pump alert. Look for a solid blue led when powering on
I spent some time looking for an affordable alert system for Sump pump levels to let me know if I run into a pump failure. I installed a battery backup system on the pump after it was installed but wanted to get an alert system that I could install easily and not have to spend a fortune on. This device is the best answer I came up with. It’s small, affordable and simple. The directions are pretty good but tech support is there to help you out in a pinch. I didn’t really need them but wanted to verify some things found. I read other posts about the device that helped me out but I will elaborate some more. When I installed the batteries and checked my wi-fi signal I saw nothing. I did notice a blue led flash every now and then. Not much mentioned on posts about that except someone mentioned that a flashing led indicates a possible unseated board. I removed the batteries and unseated the board located next to the batteries. Be careful and lift straight up make sure all leads are straight and reinstall with firm pressure, when I reinstalled the batteries a solid blue led was observed and when checking the wi-fi signal I saw what the Signal was found as described in the pamphlet. Setup from that point on was easy and testing the unit provided a very reliable and timely message receipt of alarms. Very happy with the end result and took less than half an hour to figure it all out. I wanted the detailed post to help others out enjoy what this has to offer. Up to 5 email addresses allowed but only 1 SMS phone alert.

Good product, but installation documenation lacking.
Good product, but installation instructions lacked accurate details. And installation materials were also lacking.First, the instructions suggested that I install "3" AAA batteries. There was only 1 in the package. So, I spent 3 or 4 minutes looking around the floor and through the packaging to find the other 2 batteries. So then I gave up and retrieved 2 batteries from my personal battery supply. I then opened the device up and found the other 2 batteries already installed. Not a huge problem but it resulted in a wasted few minutes for me and also my began an initial lack of confidence in the product.During the installation, it also required a little knowledge of networking as the documentation was lacking. On my phone, after connecting to the wifi SSID SASensor-****** as suggested, my web browser did not automatically load. So I brought up Firefox and entered http://10.10.4.1 IP address on the URL line and from there I was able to configure the device and enter my wireless network parameters - SSID & security key. The email sent to my email box went to junk mail. I believe that could be corrected by registering your domain and making sure it's not labeled by reputable DNS servers as spam. Also, In my testing, it appears that there is an undocumented latent period between alarm tests because it didn't consistently sound off during my testing. I'm only assuming that there is a required amount of time between tests, and it left me with a small additional amount of doubt.I would also recommend that a 3 or 4 zip-ties long enough to wrap around a 3" sump pipe, to be included with the physical installation package. I had a couple zip-ties and made it simple for me to attach the MySpool float to the sump pipe. I also wrapped it with a couple layers of waterproof duct tape. And to mount the MySpool controller up above, about chest level, on the same pipe, I used only duct tape because I don't believe with the design of the tabs, that a zip-tie would stay in place on top of the tabs. The 2 plastic tabs intended for screws (not included) was a little shaky to wrap the duct tape around. Again, the tabs should be more pronounced and designed with a raised ridge to allow a zip-tie to hold it in place along with screw holes for a wall mount install.Lastly, not certain how much cost would be added if a low battery alarm could be added, but would be nice.

Great for detecting swimming pool low water
After seeing different products from other vendors, including the need to subscribe for notifications, difficulty in setting up and getting alerts, etc., I was hesitant whether this one would meet my needs. The description about the product was very accurate and the product was exactly what I wanted. It was simple to install and setup. No subscription needed. As to how I am using it, I needed something that would tell me when the level of the water pool in my pool was below my desired depth. The video on the web site was super useful in showing how to switch from high water to low water mode. I found a spot around my pool where it would not accidentally get bumped. Under the railing of the steps into the pool turned out to be ideal. I enclosed the unit on three sides with a part of a plastic container. I mounted the top of the container to the coping around the pool which is always above water, with velcro. I ran the wire to a waterproof container thru a tiny hole near the top. That container sits on the pool deck under the railing. The wi-fi connectivity worked fine. The battery unit eliminated the need for any wires going across the deck. Too soon to know how long the batteries actually last, but I intend to really use this unit when I'm away so I can tell my house sitter when to add water to the pool, so battery life shouldn't be an issue. In the future if the control unit becomes waterproof that would make my setup even better.

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!
This product WILL NOT LAST. And whatever warranty is available will not cover you when it fails. We used it to send us water level alerts for our pool so we would know when to fill it or turn off the pump so it wouldn't burn out when we travel. However, after just a few months, we realized we weren't getting alerts anymore. It took us a few months to figure this out but then we replaced the batteries (most logical reason it wasn't working, right??) and that did not fix the problem. We contacted the manufacturer who gave us troubleshooting ideas that also did not work. We asked what the warranty was since they told us it was out of warranty (less than a year after we purchased it and most likely it broke less than 6 months after we started using it) but wouldn't let us know what the warranty actually was and told us we were out of luck. SAVE YOUR MONEY and buy one of the metal water level alerts out there. This is cheap plastic or something and it WILL NOT LAST. You will waste your money!!

Cannot be configured to send emails
It connected to my Wifi but could never be configured to send email alerts. MySpool support tried to help but it got quite technical, with lots of home network configuration fiddling, including a new DNS server address. Unfortunately my network DNS server cannot be changed. The product had to be returned.

Exactly what I wanted
After reading some of the reviews I was skeptical about this product, but I had already ordered it so I decided to give it a shot. I found the setup simple and quick and worked exactly as per the instructions. I find the text alerts are between instant to under one minute delay. So far this productis exactly what I wanted and works exactly as advertised. Install only took a few seconds as well. it's only been a few hours but I will test it regularly and update this review if anything changes.Update: I have had this alert 10 days now and I test it regularly. I still find the text and email alerts to be pretty instantaneous. Next time there is a big storm I will unplug my sump pump and test the float operation, but looking at it, it looks like it will work well. Still happy

Must have
two saves convinced me this is a great product. Once set up, all it takes is making sure the sensor float stays free and the unit has power. So, change the battery regularly, I do it very 6 months.Multiple applications possible. I have one in both sumps in the basement.

Seems to work as intended. It’s outside and not sure how long the batteries will last. One of the batteries came stone dead but once replaced works great. Exactly what I needed.
