Well I bought the JV801 and installed it. Truly 100% plug and play. Speaker was excellent. Microphone was great. Then I hit the problem so many people encounter but found a solution. As usual the User Guide was not written by someone that speaks English natively. Typos and statements that contradict themselves using double negatives. Ignore it. The book says the green light is on solid during power up then flashes. Never happens. Mine is solid green all the time. No problem. The MUTE button does not work like hundreds of other reviews call out. There is no way to turn the speaker off since that button does not work either. Until the "magic" is discovered. I as most, 'press' the button. Some reviews say 'press hard'. Neither will work. HOWEVER, "TAP" the button, it will work fine. Same issue with the speaker on and off. Press does nothing but bruise your finger yet TAP it and works like a charm. I was ready to send it back until I discovered this. Try it, you will like it !

Review of their Customer Service is 5 stars. The product I received had a sound popping in the audio that I was not happy with. I messaged the customer support and they were prompt and apologetic for the quality I happened to receive, and provided a refund. While I happened to get a unit that had some sound popping in the audio, the device was still very easy to use. Definitely plug and play. I do not want to speak poorly of the product, as I may have just happened to get a sub-par unit. I do applaud their customer service is great, understanding, and swift.

Excellent mic and decent speaker. It can distort a little with lower tones. Noise level and range is great. Mic works perfect and fills great new with this being my monitor. Do yourself A favor and replace your headset with this desktop solution. If you’re going to be working remote for any extended period of time now or in the future this is a worthwhile investment. No issues hearing people or communicating and no more wearing a headset six hours a day.

I used to use a Plantronics headset for zoom and other web meetings; however, it becomes uncomfortable after being on it for hours per day. I was never happy with the built-in webcam microphone and computer speaker combo as it would echo and cause feedback. I picked up this USB mic/speaker device to try out and wow i'm blown away. Other web meeting participants sound great through the built in speaker. They also say that my voice comes in loud and clear without any feedback on their end. I'm thrilled! The touch sensitive controls are a nice touch as well. I recently added the krisp.ai noice cancelling software to my computer and it makes this thing even better. Not that it is covering up any flaws, but it blocks out things like dogs barking, babies crying, even clearing your throat. I highly recommend that software with any setup, and works especially well with this device. I also wanted to mention that it has a nice feel to it with a metal wrapped design and quality materials. It has nice thick rubber feed on the bottom so it won't drift around the desk.

I am working from home and on Skype calls for a good part of the day. This speakerphone works pretty well and is a big improvement over my laptop speakers. Setup was a breeze, just plug it in to USB and windows sets it up in seconds. The controls work well and are easy to use. I can only give it 3 stars due to a few shortcomings. My biggest complaint is the sound quality. People talking makes something vibrate inside so there is a nearly constant buzzing distortion. If I press down on the speaker grille this goes away, so it's just a symptom of poor construction. Also the volume level is acceptable, but should be able to go louder than it does. My last complaint is the microphone mute indicator. It is a red/green LED that works the opposite of what I would expect. On this device red means you are muted and green means you are talking. I am used to the other way around, but will adjust. Overall it's not bad. Definitely an improvement over laptop internal speakers. But for 60 bucks I would expect better quality.

Hi, I bought this product for work from home purposes and it was awesome for 1.5 years. I don’t like wearing headsets all day and it gave me exactly what I wanted with the ability to have headset level audio quality on conference calls while normally sitting in a chair. Although this product required me to unplug and replug before use after each restart of my windows pc it was tolerable. 1.5 years later - the speaker broke and all that comes out is muffled static. I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary, didn’t even use it for music. This is pretty upsetting for a product that cost +50$. To make matters worse, their support doesn’t reply to their email. The main reason for 1 star is the complete lack of communication from support. Not even a “sorry this is out of warranty”.

Thank you to the thoughtful engineers, industrial designers, software developers, product packagers and, Amazon for featuring this product. Yes, it's that good. To start, all you get is a speaker and a nicely made USB cable. But that USB cable has a dual purpose, power and connectivity to your computer. So you don't need another electrical cord to enhance the dreaded, ever expanding spider-web behind your desk and you're not searching for the never-available empty power outlet. Once you connect it to, in my case, a Windows 10 desktop, the OS recognizes it and a driver announces itself. Why a driver? Adjust the volume and you'll see. It's such a pleasure to do that - it's a touch-only instead of a click button. Same with mute. You will get an on-screen display of a volume bar - which goes away in a couple of seconds. This is Apple-like design in this speaker. In my case, it replaced an Amazon Alexa as my computer speaker / speakerphone. Alexa would have been excellent (and has better bass) except for the persistent "Now connecting to...." message that is not turn-off-able, according to the many online forums tracking Alex as a computer speaker. So if you want a speaker, that serves double-duty as a speaker phone for those increasingly popular webex calls, this speaker is ideal. And the headphone jack allows you to keep the conversation private on your earbuds/headphones.

Perfect for small group hybrid board meetings with video conferencing combined with in person facility with internet but no landlines. When placed in the center of the group of 8 people who are socially distanced for COVID-19, the voices were heard by those on-line, plus, those in attendance could easily hear the remote participants. The USB for the speaker connected easily with a laptop (Windows 10 and Teams and Zoom) and cable is good length and quality.

Only thing that could have been better for our purpose would have been to have chosen a wireless speaker/mike. The cord is a bit of a pain going across the desk. But, that doesn't detract that it works well and is an easy plug and play item.

Too much echo, unable to use this....

Great sound and mic is very clear. Love this product.

I wouldn't recommend it. There is an echo on calls that makes this unusable, seems cheaply made for a conference microphone as the echo is unbearable for the other side, also colleagues have complained that my voice comes in and out and I am not sitting that far from the speakerphone.
