I use this to detect chlorine in my pool. This 2 ounce bottle has the best price per ounce especially compared to the cost of the 3/4 ounce size. It may last a year! I hope it's available again when I need it. Yes, recommended, and yes, especially in this 2 ounce size!

Highly recommended by pool professionals in our family
Our pool got really nasty last year. Fortunately we have family who are pool professionals. Once we got the pool back to normal, they suggested using the Taylor Pool Test Kit. The kit came with ¾ oz bottles of reagents. When R-0002 ran out, we opted for the larger 2 oz bottle from Amazon as a cost effective way to keep testing. Here's a TIP they passed on to us: pool test chemicals are adversely effected by heat, so it's best to keep them in the famous "cool, dry place" to help maintain their effectiveness. Who knew?

Works. Not Much Else to Say. Would Buy Again.
The R-0002 reagent in my Taylor K-2005C kit was expired so I purchased this replacement. I probably could have used the expired reagent, but my beginning of season chlorine readings were “screwy” so I did not want to take the chance that this was due to the expired reagent. This replacement reagent is perhaps a bit pricey compared to the price of an entire new kit, but who am I to argue when I am buying the reagent “ala carte.” Based on the price of the pool, $15 for a critical chlorine testing reagent should not be that big a concern. The reagent works, and has a 2026 expiration date. I would buy again.
