AQUA CREST Fluoride Water Filter, Replacement for Berkey® PF-2®, 2 Pack

These work great as Big Berkey PF-2 replacements while being more cost effective and more available. Instructions are easy and once you've done the process a few times, you know just what to do. It says "flow arrow" but I found ends clearly labeled "IN" and "OUT", works just as well, no biggie. I'm on my 2nd pair from this brand. Now if I can just track 1000 gallons for when to replace...

On the Berkey filter the directions say same as this filter, to only turn 7 or so times so that the inner seal is not punctured. But if you take a q-tip and gently put it in the UP end, the Berkey's filter seal & content are at the top and the q-tip only goes in a short distance. This filter's turned the opposite direction and the q-tip goes in the botton the same distance as the top of the Berkey filter. If putting a q-tip in the UP end of this filter it goes a much longer distance into the canister... similar to the bottom opening of the Berkey. I don't know that it really makes any difference in it's filtering capabilities but you don't need to be so concerned about not tightening the the filter into place with only the exact turns.

I see alot of comments about the water not tasting right etc. Be sure to prime these filters first. You take the tan "washers" (pictured above) and hold it up to the tap until the water runs clear. You run water through both ends and for good measure I run through water again in the direction the water flows through it. These fluoride filters attach to the black filter, this is important. It comes with a pretty good picture/diagram esque note, again, (picture above). My only complaint is that it says to wash it with the "blue cap" on. I ordered two sets of two filters, neither came with a "blue cap". That's what most of pictures are about. When I ordered them through Berkey, they came with a cap. However because I use castille soap, I washed it successfully without the blue cap, and felt it was okay. I guess it doesn't really matter if you wash it and then run the water through for some time to thoroughly rinse it out. However, because the product does not come with what it says it does, I am giving it 4 stars. In conclusion, it doesn't really matter about the blue cap, it just bothers me that it says it's there & it's not. Overall this product is fine and will save you money vs getting the Berkeys. I find that customer service through Berkey is pretty sub par so that's why I felt no need to stay brand loyal. Also, Berkey has been out of stock with these for some time. So, I figured something was better than nothing. However, these work fine.

This is my first replacement for my fluoride filter. Replacement went quick and easy.

Keep in mind, I have no way of testing the filtered water, so I’m working off the assumption that it filters as well as the name-brand filters. That said, they seem to work just as well as what I had before and they cost a fraction of what the Berkey filters cost. They were easy to prime and install and I can not detect any sort of flavor difference. I’d love to see some test results to see what these filters pull out compared to the Berkey. If they work as well, they are definitely worth the money!

Bought four filters and when first installing, two of them were very hard to attach to black berkey filters. In fact, the plastic threads were chipping and leaving small pieces of plastic on the berkey filters. After two months, noticed a mildew smell coming from bottom tank and a bad taste in the water, removed and cleaned the whole system. Another month went by and same thing. Verified three out of four aquacrest filters smelled like mildew. I don't recommend these filters even though the cost is less than the OEM berkey filters.

I’m so happy I found this product, the manufacturer was sold old so I figured I’d look on amazon and I’m so glad I did! The quality is just as good, easy to install and I was able to save a few bucks.

Received only one of two items. Told no need to return. Now I get an email that return had to be done today! What gives?

This is not a fluoride filter. It only has a small clump of charcoal dust in it. Look at my photos of a real fluoride filter compared to this one from amazon with the black media inside. Completely different.
