Excellent in Small Distances-- But You'll Need More Stuff for Bigger Spaces
The system works as advertised. We bought a water timer separately, and all is flowing well. However, there are a few downsides. The printed directions are not terribly useful, or explicit (hence my review of only 4 stars). I discovered through trial and error, and I'll leave these tips for other users: - The flow regulators are not marked, but only allow water to flow one-way. One tip: The gallon-an-hour regulators are red/black. If you put the red part (the thicker plastic half) in the down-stream flow direction, it will work, otherwise, it will stop flow in that tube. The directions are not helpful in this regard. The half-gallon flow regulators are black/black and more difficult to see. The thick plastic half must be in the direction of the down-stream water flow. If they are not set up this way, they will impede water flow. - You can cut the tubing to the length you require with scissors. It needs several cuts for each trickle output at your plants. - Each trickle output must have its own flow regulator (either red or black). You cannot, for example, double up a red regulator with more than one output. - The parts included in the box are sufficient for a small patio only. This only comes with 25 feet of tubing, limiting its distance. I have a small townhouse-style backyard, and the 25 feet of tube included was nowhere near enough to go around the circumfrence. I ended up buying another 50 feet of tubing at the hardware store (look for 1/4 inch tubing, and make sure it is rather stiff-- not the super flexible kind). It is also difficlut to find black tubing. I had to buy white/transluscent, so it does not match the original black tubing from the box. I recommend looking for do-it-yourself videos on Youtube as you prepare to install the system. If you have more than 6-7 plants, you may end up running out of regulators and other parts. It may be a good idea to buy two boxes to ensure you have tubing and other snap-in parts. Happy gardening !

Great product at an attractive price
I paid less than half price by purchasing this on Amazon described as used bit in excellent condition. When I received it, an inspection of the goods determined that all parts were present and it appeared unused. The box was just a little beat up. Not the first time I have purchased things from Amazon Resold, and it won't be the last. The product itself is well suited for use on a patio, porch or other area with container plants.

Defective (sound familiar?)
Great product in theory and Rain Bird is about the only game in town for quality DIY sprinkler systems. However, this patio kit is defective! The t-barbs do not emit water. Shame on me for not coming straight back to Amazon when the first t-barb didn't put out any water, but I went to Rain Bird's website instead. After digging for about an hour, I found the problem was likely that the t-barbs weren't leaking because the "end plug" at the end of the tube was not installed. Problem here is that THEY DON'T PROVIDE AN END-PLUG IN THE BOX! Trip #1 to Home Depot...to buy an end-barb. Where, by the way, I also found this kit for the same price. So, I continued to install this system (with the additional 100' of tubing I had purchased at HD). When I completed the install, I inserted the end plug as instructed, turned on the water.....and nothing! NOTHING! I cut off the end plug and water came squirting out of the end of the system, but it wasn't making it out of the t-barbs to the plants. With no other options, I cut out a t-barb (because that's what you have to do to get the connectors out once you put them on a tube) and stuck a piece of pine-straw in down spout. It wouldn't go in all the way. At that point, I realized I had a very big problem that would require new t-barbs (trip #2 to HD), a cutting/replacement of all of the perfectly measured tubing, and some big deep breaths to keep from throwing the whole thing in the trash. RAIN BIRD: We get it! Mistakes happen! BUT PUT SOMETHING ON YOUR WEBSITE THAT MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, THE T-BARBS ARE DEFECTIVE AND ADDITIONAL ONES SHOULD BE PURCHASED PRIOR TO STARTING THE PROJECT! Oh, and include an end-plug in the box. Seriously, what does it cost? A penny?

Not as described, but not Amazon's fault....
Below is my original review of the product, which I still stand behind, however, I wanted to advise that after reading my review, I received an email from Amazon customer service, offering me a choice of remedies, one being a replacement product, or a return for full refund, or if I wanted to keep the set, a reimbursement of 20% of the purchase price. The last option was the one I chose, since I had already put the set into use, and I wasn't neccesarily unhappy with the product, it just wasn't as described, and of course, Amazon had no control over the fact that there were no instructions... The reason I am editing my review is to let everyone know the absolutely steller customer service Amazon.com consistently provides, which is why I buy everything I can from this site. ******************************************************************************************************************** <<<First, the ad says 42 pcs. and waters up to 10 containers, but when it arrives, it has 40 pcs., and waters 8 containers... Second, there are absolutely NO instructions....if you already know how this kind of irrigation system works, it's not so hard to figure out, but if this was a first-time purchase, I imagine you'd be a bit lost...I am familiar, as I have my whole vegetable garden watered with various forms of this system, which is why I decided to get the patio kit for the flower boxes around my deck, but there are parts included that I'm not sure how to put together...>>>

The drip system is why I bought this and it seems to be easy to set up as other have mentioned
I agree with the post below and have run into the same issues. No plug which is a piece of plastic that cost maybe 10 cents. So order the drain plug at the same time. The drip system is why I bought this and it seems to be easy to set up as other have mentioned.

Wife loves it and so do I
My wife is a master gardener and she has tons of pots all over the front and back of the house. Watering them is a real chore and I decided to take a first stab at a drip system. Based on teh reviews at Amazon I chose this system and some additional parts to meet all the needs for the dozen pots out front. What a piece of cake to install. If you can use a heavy pair of scissors or light wire cutters and can read directions you can install this as I did in no time. I did ten pots in under an hour. These are very large pots in varying size and with different plants. The hard part is knowing how much water to put on them each day. If you can calculate that, my wife did, then you know which type of gallon per hour filters to install in the line and how ofter to run the system. You will need a spigot mounted timer for your system. All you do is layout your plan, I did it in my head, then start at one end, cut the tubing, insert a tee in the cut you made, add tubing to the other tee point, insert the GPH filter (determines the flow of water out the tube), insert another small section of tube on the other side of the filter attach the bug guard to the end of the tubing and insert it in thepot with the holder provided. Move to the next pot and repeat. This is as easy as it gets. count the number of pots you have and I used a tee for each pot, there are cheaper ways but I find this worth the cost. Per pot you need a tee, a gallon per hour filter, two small sections of tubing (the kit allowed me to do a porch oon both sides with about 6 stairs)and a stake that includes the bug filter. The timer is optional but will make the system self-watering. Buck

Good introduction to drip watering, but overpriced
I got this kit almost a year ago, before leaving for a 2 week trip. I tried the "ask your friends" way to water the plants before, and it did not work that great :-) I needed to water 6 planters, some of them quite big (20 inch diameter). This kit, purchased along with a water timer, Orbit 62062N 2-Valve 1-Dial Water Timer , was a nice way to get started, as I did not know anything. But I quickly realized it was not good for me. The first flaw was that the water line provided in the kit was slightly too short to provide water to all the planters. So I decided to install the kit for a few pots, and the next day I went to a hardware store to get more tubing. This is when I realized I should have been in the hardware store from the start: tubing and accessories for drip watering, including the pressure adapter, were ridiculously cheap. From the store, getting the same parts as the one in the kit was 50% cheaper. Also, I noticed that there are a lot of other different outputs available than the drip spigot. I was able to get all the accessories I needed to fit my needs. For example, drips were not enough for the bigger pots, so I was able to get some kind of miniature sprinkler. The good thing is that the parts and the tubing from this kit are all standard and will work with any other brand accessories. I do not regret getting this kit, as it was a good way to learn things, but unless you have only a few small planters close enough to each other, you will need more hardware that you can get for cheaper in a hardware store. Now I don't have to worry about watering the plants anymore. This is great.

Time saver
This was an easy set up. Bought a timer and works great. Saves me so much time. This is my second set purchased. Also bought some add ons so my back garden is well set up. I can go away and not worry about my plants dying
