The use of waxed cotton began in the early 19th century when sailors, seeking protection from icy spray and high winds, treated old linen sailcloth with linseed oil to create simple smocks. By the 20th century, they were using cotton, treated with paraffin wax. The result is a durable and breathable fabric with the quality and character to make it a popular choice all round. For added strength, the metal has been made from surgical steel and the collar includes an engravable surgical steel Hennessy and Sons name tag. The Scottish Waxed Cotton dog collars are available in blue, black, and green. Note: The Hennessy and Sons range is designed to fit smaller to medium sized dogs.
