DOKIO 150W Portable Foldable Solar Panel Kit with Charge Controller

Powerful. It maintains 14.0 -14.3 volts while charging. simply plug into charging controller it has helped me out with charging my devices as i burned out my cigarette 12v in my car. it continues to charge devices even when it's a cloudy day!

Very nice set of solar panels just wish they included a set of stands because they are pretty inefficient without putting them on a proper angle to the sun. The company sells the stands separately. The stands they sell are alright but where they weld the rods to breaks easily. I posted a bad review on the stands and the company reached out to me and are sending me another set so they are very receptive to the customers needs. When used at the proper angle these panels deliver. They put out a respectable 8.8amps @ 22.5 volts open circuit. I made this setup more efficient by using a 12gauge SAE extension and a portable MMPT charger as the one they provided is adequate but I need every watt these panels deliver to recharge my Ham Radio battery’s out in the field and and MMPT charger can keep delivering power even on cloudy days . The panels are nice and light so if you have to trek your gear by carrying it a distance this is great and was my main reason for purchasing this brand. They are very thin and folded up are only about 2” thick and about 9 lbs with the controller and cables. They have a nice storage compartment built in. If I can make one suggestion to the company to make this the greatest system. Build stands into the panels backs like a photo frame has so you don’t need a set of stands. It would make these truly light and an even better product. These panels charge a 12.8 volt 20 Ah LIFEPO4 battery from a shut off voltage of 10.1 volts to a full charge in about 2.5hrs in direct sun light. The only gripe that I had was setting the provided PWM charge controller to B4 so it could charge LIFEPO4 batteries. Very confusing but I finally did it. This is one of the reasons I purchased a nice MMPT charger dedicated to charging this type of battery. You can’t go wrong buying these great panels. They also provided a nice set of accessory’s with these panels including a set of alligator clamps and multiple charging plugs. Very well thought out accessories.

Arrived quickly. Upon initial inspection, the panels had some very light scuffs on them. Doesn’t seem to affect function. The cable on the panels has one type of plug. There’s a 6’ cable that plugs into that with an xt60 male at the other end. This plugs directly into my big station. There’s another short cable with a female xt60 that plugs into the first cable. It has a barrel type plug at the other end with an assortment of barrel plugs to fit various power stations. None of these fit my small station. Sad… There’s 2 other cables. One with alligator clips and one with bare wires. These plug into the charge controller out for a battery. I have not tried that. I had a cable with my small station that had Anderson plug on one end and the plug that came off these panels on the other. Lucky me. I was able to get 180w with very thin cloud. The panels don’t have legs for propping or eyelets for hanging. You’ll have to lean against something.

Please keep in mind that when it comes to solar panels the wattage rating usually equates to what is possible under laboratory conditions and just about never can be recreated in the real world. With that said, here's my review: As the headline reads, this is not exactly 'light'. Surely easy enough for one person to move around and deploy and it folds down to a size that was easy enough to find room for behind the front seat of my truck. Since my RV already has a decent MPPT charge controller I decided I'd add on to the existing one (besides the included controller that came as part of the 'kit' HAS to be protected from the elements (direct sun & moisture) so was of little use to me to use along with my existing one. The 'kit' came with a ~10' cable that has connectors on both ends to use hooking it up. One end has a SAE connector that plugs into the panel and the other end I cut off and replaced with Anderson connectors. A word of caution here: Due to SAE's 'keying' the +/- wires will reverse unless a little SAE-2-SAE adapter is used to change the polarity of the wires. Given I don't live in a LAB and I'm above the 45th I did not have high expectations for this panel. However it was a bright and sunny day in May and with a clear view of the sky (not a cloud in it) I set up the panel in my front yard. My existing solar panel (68W) was putting out ~40W when I plugged Dokio in parallel to it. The solar panel wattage reading on my phones Bluetooth app went from ~40W to ~210W after plugging in the Dokio - showing that the Dokio 220W panel was providing ~170W of the ~210W total. IMHO: not bad! I plan on adding a fused SAE connector on my RV and keeping the panel behind the front seat of my truck. While the included cable is far to short (I ordered a 25' SAE-2-SAE cable from Amazon) this will come in handy to add more 'juice' while I'm out in the wild - which is mostly what I do when I go out camping, I rarely have RV hookups even when I camp at official campgrounds. (I'm a boondocker!) Granted, had I not already had a better solar controller installed I could of wired up and installed the one included in the kit. Sure, it is fairly basic but at least it has different battery type settings so you can match it to what your using. I should note that when my panel kit arrived all that showed up was the panel box, nothing else! I contacted Amazon which asked me to contact the vendor and within 24hrs they responded and 48hrs later a FEDX truck dropped off the rest of the kit! I'd say very good support from the vendor! To conclude I'd say that so far I'm happy with my purchase and the support I've gotten from the vendor. :) UPDATE (9/22/2022): I've tried using the panel a number of times since purchase. As an example, I currently have it set in my front yard attempting to charge a power brick. While @ 9AM the sun is low in the sky the entire panel is 'lit' with sunlight but only putting out ~50W of power. As a 'control' I also plugged in a 100W panel and only got 25W out of it.

I have tons of experience with solar panels as I have been living in a van for nearly 5 years. This is by far the worst solar panel I have ever purchased. It won't work at all even if it's a little bit cloudy whereas every other solar panel I've ever purchased still works when it's cloudy it just produces less power. This won't produce power at all unless it's perfectly sunny… I live in California for the record. Update: after a few weeks nothing has improved. These are the worst solar panels I have ever purchased. Even the connectors are loose you plug it in and you go to set it up and by the time you have it all set up the wire has fallen off so now you have to reset up everything. Even the connectors that go into your battery to charge your battery don't stay in I have to tape up everything just to keep it connected. The solar panels have made my life extremely harder and I'm super disappointed because I can't return them because they've been used so there is dirt on them

So I've had this 300W Dokio for over a year now. Originally I purchased their 110W model 2 years ago (2022) and it produced a maximum of 65W. Fast forward a year later and a good sale on their 300W model, so I thought I would at least get 200W out of those which would quicken my recharge on my 1000W power station. I was sorely disappointed. The absolute maximum power I ever got from this 300W panel was 160W. Now before you say, well sun conditions, clouds, etc. I live in sunny California. On a clear day, not a cloud in the sky, middle of summer, at optimal angle is where I got it to output 160W maximum. I watched it bounce between 149W and 160W for about an hour. I don't like writing reviews on day 1 since longevity and other things can't be fully tested until after a period of time. Well, I've had these for over a year, used them about 20 times. The fabric is starting to come apart on the front side - its still together, but you can definitely see the wear. This panel has never been anywhere except my backyard, except when not in use it is folded up and stored in my house. I have never been anything but delicate with them, never scraped them across any surfaces, etc. My assumption is the fabric used to hold these panels together has terrible UV protection. The panels do indeed "work", but they are completely overrated by Dokio. This 300W panel should be sold as a 175W panel. Other than the UV damage, they would be highly rated at that market point. At 300W rating, these are terrible. Perhaps the only saving grace, is that many other manufacturers charge between $1.50/Watt - $2.00/Watt for their portable/flexible panels (the rated Watts, not actual) so at approximately $230 for this panel if it were rated at 175W (providing the actual 160W max I received) it would be about $1.30/Watt in cost. But the size would be larger than equivalent performance panels from another manufacturer. So price/performance is good, but everything else is just disappointing.

I will give this a five star review even though I have not put it to the test yet. I bought the 150 watt version because my power station can only take 120 watt input and I would hate to fry it. It is a solar panel and i do not expect it to ever actually hit 150 watts. Even in the most perfect condition I expect 120 at the most. And my real expectation is more like an average of 40 to 70 watts because I am traveling on a bicycle with a cargo trailer attached. It lays over the trailer nice, but not every panel is getting that sweet spot of sun. I do wish it came with some kind of support to hold itself up, but for 65 bucks it was a very good deal. I am glad I did not go with a bigger one because the 150 watt is about as big as I want to get. I do have a 444wh power station I will be charging with it. I expect it will fully charge the battery in 3 about three days. Theoretically it could charge it in about 7 or 8 hours, but that would be at peak performance all day. Where I'm camping there are too many trees. It was a good price and the controller functionality is great. I like that I can plug usb devices into it directly. Only time will tell. I will update this review in about three months of abuse, I hope it holds up. Seems well built.

This works well keeping everything charged for weeklong gigs in the motorhome. I read other reviews where people mentioned that it didn’t hold up for long-term use out in the weather. If you read the description, It’s clearly not designed for a permanent kind of set up. The panels are foldable and in a nice nylon covering with handles. It is great for maintaining batteries while vacationing around. Easy set up takedown. If you are looking for something to maintain your batteries while your rig is parked for a long-term, get something hard sided and meant for that purpose.

I bought it to charge an 1,800W class of power station. It is vary convenient that the various size of DC connectors are provided for. There are no special problems so far, and performance testing has not been done yet.

The Dokio 110 watt system I set up worked well in cloud and sun. I built a simple plywood support frame and let it go to work. Charging ranged from 24 volts in full sun to 13.5 low in full cloud. It was a good unsettled day to test the unit. I had two 90 amp hour deep cycle batteries hooked up in parallel and my IPad which was at 16% charge from start time. The batteries started with a reading of 12.9 volts and after after 5 hours were 13.5 volts. The IPad was at 75% charge after 4 hours. I also like the charge controller readout screen. It keeps you informed of the performance and constantly monitors the pv output. I can see that we will be able to extend our RVing off the grid considerably without worry about losing power or resorting to a generator. A 200 watt system would likely keep the batteries fully charged but for us, this will do the job nicely. Super happy so far.
