Would these work for transfering a picture on to watercolor paper?

I do not know for sure. But I am not a watercolor artist. Off the cuff - I would think they would leave a powdery dust on the paper and change the color of your paint. They might mix with the water.

Since I can’t find a small amount of graphite powder, I wonder if I can use this by scraping it and apply it as a powder where needed?

I don't see why you can't use an exacto knife and scrape it to make your own graphite powder. I think that would work. But my use is different, so I don't know how well it'll work. My thoughts and opinion are just an idea.

I don't know what they would be coated with. They have no coating that I can tell and feel like regular pastels. They are fabulous for what I do. They are also a bit messy like most products in this category. I personally love to work with them!
