Java Monster Kona Blend, Coffee + Energy Drink, 15 Ounce

Literally the best flavor of Java Monster. Sad to see it go, and its "replacement" called "Cafe Latte" is absolute garbage. Straight dog water pretending to be a coffee-flavored energy drink. If I could curse in this review, there'd be many a bad word to say about "Cafe Latte" But only good things to say about Kona Blend. Bring back Kona Blend. Now.

What more needs to be said it's my favorite

This stuff is great, but be careful: Amazon charged me a "regulatory fee" that was $1.20 for the deposit on the cans. They ended up giving me a store credit for it. IN MOST STATES THERE IS NO DEPOSIT ON THESE!! On the cans I see "CA CRV OR 10¢" and "ME HI 5¢". I'm in Michigan, which would ordinarily be a 10¢ deposit, but this is a non-carbonated beverage and in MI there is no deposit on the containers for such beverages. Regular Monster (non-Java) do have deposits, so I can see how this could be confusing. Brick and mortar retailers do this all the time (collect deposits illegally on this stuff) but I thought Amazon would know better since they're so huge and those deposits will add up to absolutely criminal levels.

The Kona Blend was the first Java Monster Coffee & Energy Drink I've tried. I fell in love right away! This flavor is good but I like sweet things so I prefer the toffee flavor. I usually don't drink energy drinks but my work place went from Peet's coffee to some generic brand that tasted watered down. Just wasn't working for me at all. Tried the smaller cans and absolutely LOVED it so decided to buy in bulk! Amazon only sells the bigger size so I bought a case. This baby gave me energy the whole day and night. This can be a good and bad thing. I just have to say be careful with this. I was addicted but never drank more than one can a day. Warning- you may start to crash mid afternoon. This may just be me but I stopped drinking coffee and this energy/coffee drink and I have more energy during the day. I did get a coffee headache the first 10 days, but it's all good now.

The first thing you should notice about other reviews is the date in which they were made, many from 4+ years ago. I believe Amazon got their shipping snafus sorted out as I've gotten 7 shipments of these Java Monsters and not one single can was broken or out of date. A bunch of cans were dented, but nothing damaged to where I had to throw any away. The price jumps around, but still cheaper than buying locally by a good 50-70 cents each after you factor in the cost of tax. That said, I've been drinking Monster Java's for quite a few years now, despite being hard to find in stores sometimes. Kona Blend is my favorite but all of them are pretty good. I don't care for warm drinks so these are perfect for a morning pick-me-up poured over ice. I haven't found an iced coffee even remotely as tasty as these. These are even great with a nip of rum should the occasion call for such an agreement.

Okay, Kona is history it seems. Even the Monster website doesn't list it any longer. SAD - since this was the best monster in the history of all monsters that ever lived! Better than the werewolf, or Dracula, or Frankenstein, or a zombie, WAY better than mean bean, and even better than Mocha [which is my second choice - but FAR behind KONA]. Bring BACK the KONA! We the people demand it.... Tiki Wiki Woo Woo.

Absolutely love these drinks - I get 2 cases a month for the famiy. They are my go-to now that Kona is gone. I buy here so I don't have to get the little 4 pack tiny cans they now sell in stores (really...3 oz less each can!) Problem is, Amazon, your packing is terrible!! Usually the cans are intact and all that's wrong is torn plastic surrounding them. The past 6 months they come open and rolling around in the box. The last one (Jan 8, 2025) had 4 cans with leaks in them I couldn't even find, everything was sticky and soaked because they ship ALL 6 of my subscriptions in a single box, and the box and tape are now so flimsy and thin the box itself is always 40%+ open. In the past, a couple boxes were returned to Amazon, credited to my account as "undeliverable due to damage", and I have to reorder them! Really Amazon?? We pay what, $140 a year for Prime and you can't spare some packing materials and a decent package?! I suggest having them shipped separately due to this - when I've ordered them alone they come in a great box, packed well. In conclusion, the drink and can size are 10 stars and shipping is -10 stars or more.

Pros: Best Monster coffee, best cold canned coffee on the market Cons: Price I love this coffee, in my opinion it's wayyy better than any of the other canned coffees on the Monster line-up (though Loca Moca comes in second for me). It's rarely found in stores, convenience stores or gas stations so it made sense to purchase this in bulk off Amazon. Unfortunately, I very much disagree with the high cost and wish there was just a little bit of a discount as buying one and buying 12 should contain a bit of difference in cost. Either way, I would buy more as there's nothing better on a busy day than sipping one of these.
