Are these corn pcks dishwasher safe?

can corn be cooked with these already inserted?  i.e. can they be boiled?

I've done it, and they don't fare well. The clear plastic softens, so you will get some bent handles and prongs going in the wrong direction. The only ones that have worked for me are a screw-in type, made of a solid plastic that isn't fazed by boiling water. They also have fairly short handles that are easier to fit in a pot. I've been looking for more, but can't find them on Amazon. However, I am pretty sure that the handles on this page https://www.amazon.com/Kuhn-Rikon-Holders-Green-Yellow/dp/B014MUX604 are the handles I have, with a decorative "cob" added to the handle. To get them to work at the narrow end of the corn, you have to cut a little off the end of the cob to expose the core. I will continue to look for more of what I have, so I don't have to shove holders into hot corn.

I am a long time collector of corn holders with well over 500 different ones. If you do not want ones that were made in China, you need to look for vintage sterling silver ones. There were a very few made in England and at least one set made in Italy. However, some of the vintage non-sterling ones that were made in the USA are plated with chrome or silver but have lead as the base metal.  Be sure to get ones that are stamped "sterling" on each corn holder. At this time, you can pick up common types of sterling corn holders for about $12-$15/pair. Note that only the handles will be sterling.  Corn on the cob is a food that is almost unique to the United States and other countries do no eat it.

Are there corn porcelaine or silicone corn holders

The outer shell, the colorful part is like a rubber thing that can slide off from the clear plastic part where the pokey’s are molded into. I’d stick to hand washing, it’s the heat that loosens the rubber. They are definitely sharp and stick the corn better than others I’ve had in the past.
