Tex Avery Screwball Classics Volume 1 [Blu-ray]

Tex Avery is a legend in the cartoon world and this collection is some of his best, crazy, and laughable cartoons one can buy and the 4K is just great! I'm glad I have the physical discs because just remember that if you bought the movies on digital, they're only good until the licenses to watch them expire and you no longer own the movies! It's true. Go look it up!

Great Blu-Ray! Classic cartoon

I enjoy this Blu-ray set very much! Tex Avery was a genius at comedy. Warner Archive Collection brings us another fine set of classics!

Great Bluray.

This classic cartoon brings back good memories from my childhood glad I picked this up.

So I was expecting this blu ray to have special features or something besides just a plain menu, subtitles and the cartoons. It feels like someone took a blank blu ray disc uploaded the cartoons (the way people use to make mix tapes) and then slapped it in a box. Granted these are GREAT cartoons, nothing is detracting from that but I'm glad I only paid $10 for this because otherwise I would have really felt cheated. Whatever the case I am happy to own this great collection.

Was very happy when my copy of this release finally arrived. I had been hoping for a Blu-ray release of Tex Avery cartoons for a long time. This was worth the wait. The cartoons themselves are great. When Tex moved from Warner Bros to MGM in 1941, he brought speed and fluidity to animation that hadn't been seen before. it's like all the stops were pulled out and no holds were barred. The humor works so well, even today almost 80 years later. I think the key is that Tex didn't have kids in mind when making these shorts. He even stated so in an interview near the end of his life. not to say that these cartoons are Adults Only. Kids can enjoy too. But much was aimed at the grownups. The 19 cartoons in this collection cover a variety of characters from one-shot characters to frequently appearing characters like Screwball Squirrel and Droopy. There are only 4 Droopy cartoons, but there will hopefully be more releases. The restoration on these cartoons is top notch. There isn't a fleck or scratch to be seen. Beautiful color and sound. This is a bare bones release with no special features, but that's ok. There is also the typical Warner brothers disclaimer about how these cartoons are a "product of their time" and may be irreverent or offensive to some, but if you just keep that in mind and enjoy what you see, you'll be fine. This is just the tip of the iceberg. if you have any affinity for Golden Age Era animation, please purchase this volume. It will hopefully prompt Warner Studios to release more of the works of the great Tex Avery.

Product was delivered quickly, it looks great and plays fine with no region locking. You get a lot of cartoons in one disc. I wish you could just get vol. 1-3 all in one case, but at least if you buy them all individually, you have a lot of brilliant old school cartoons that's worth it to re-watch over and over whenever you want.

Hands down, some of the funniest pieces of classic animation of the Golden Age, Tex Avery was one of a kind, a true genius! If you like Tex Avery, then you'll love this collection. I'm happy to say that it works like a treat on my PS5, so that's made it better as I didn't have to panic about picking up a multi region Blu Ray player. Though it has no special features of commentary, only subtitles, it's still a joy to watch this uncut and restored to it's beauty, I never laughed so much in my life, the gags, jokes, stories, everything is guaranteed to make you laugh. PLEASE REMEMBER: These cartoons were a product of their time, so watch with caution. With that being said, do yourselves a favor and go pick up a copy of this masterpiece collection. It'll brighten anyone's day when in the mood for some cartoon classics.

このシリーズは3巻まで出ていて3本買えばTex AveryのMGM時代の短編の大部分は手に入るが、入ってない作品もある。人気作のウルトラ子がも（LACKY DUCKY）やドルーピーの最優秀ボーイスカウト（droopy’s GOOD DEED）やデカ吉チビ助のニワトリ狩り（HENPECKED HOBOES）などが入ってない。どれも差別表現がカットされているバージョンは過去のDVDに収録されていたのでその辺の事情で収録されなかったのだろう。カット版を収録するくらいなら最初から収録しない方がマシという考えかもしれない。しかしTex Averyのソフトを買って代表作の１本であるウルトラ子がもが入って無いのは痛すぎる。Blu-rayなので画質が良いのと英語字幕で台詞がわかるのは良い点だが。ちなみにデカ吉チビ助のアフリカ探検（HALF-PINT PYGMY）は5枚組のフランス盤にすら入ってない。 2巻には特典映像でドキュメンタリーが収録されている。3巻の特典映像はワーナー時代の短編が１本。

Nachdem Tex Avery (1908-1980, damals noch unter dem Namen Fred Avery) von 1936-1941 für Warner Bros. gearbeitet und hier schon zeitlose Cartoonfiguren wie Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck und Elmar Fudd miterfunden hatte, ging er zu MGM und schuf von 1942-1955 in 84 Cartoons seine abgedrehte und völlig überzogene Cartoonwelt. Daredevil Droopy (März 1951) Bei der Zusammenstellung wurde also darauf geachte, Filme aus der ganzen MGM-Phase zu präsentieren und all seine bekannten Charaktere wie Droopy, Screwy Squirrel, Red Hot Hood und die Wölfe, Spike sowie George & Junior gleichberechtigt auftreten zu lassen. Besser kann man es eigentlich kaum machen. Das Einzige was fehlt, wäre ein bißchen Bonusmaterial mit Hintergrundinfos, das es aber leider nicht gibt. Aber ohne Zweifel werde ich mir die anderen Volumes auch noch besorgen.

I grew up watching these great classic cartoons & I love them back then & I love them now & I hope they release all of Tex Avery cartoons because they are very important cartoons that need to be preserved in the original state & need to be Not Censored!!! & watch by fans of the great classic cartoons so I am talking to u Warner Brothers, Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures, 20th Century Fox Studios, Sony Pictures, & any other major or Independent film studios that I did not mention to STOP!!! making decisions on what I should watch or should not watch I think at my age 60 years old I think I am big boy to figure it out!!! if u want to warn people about what they are watching or listening to then put warning stickers. that's all u need to do!!!!
