I have to have a drum throne with a backrest and this one just fits the bill perfectly. It is rock solid while also being very comfortable. Assembly - While the assembly is very easy it is a little tricky to get the backrest on where it doesn't wobble. However, once you get it right, its amazing! Stability - This throne is a tank! When assembled correctly it doesn't budge. Comfort - This is obviously one of the most important factors when buying a drum throne. If you aren't comfortable you won't want to play. This throne is extremely comfortable. The back rest is adjustable enough it should work with any height/weight. The seat cushion is firm enough to support but not so firm it's unpleasant to sit on. I can easily play for hours without even feeling it Price - This is not a cheap throne. I think the highest compliment I can give it is I think it is worth every cent. I have been very please with this throne. If you are in the market this is THE throne I would suggest

I bought this for use as a classical and electric guitar practice chair based on other reviews. So far it works really well for this. I am about 5’11” 168 lb and with the seat at its lowest the tops of my legs are parallel to the ground. The very front of the seat is about 19-1/2” in this position. I had an ergonomic evaluation at work once and was told this is optimal for posture and fatigue in the workplace so I went with that here. If you are significantly shorter you may want to look at something which goes lower unless you want some angle between the top of your legs and the floor. This chair has been comfortable for a couple of hours at a time which is about all I have time for. I don’t use the backrest while actually practicing but it is nice to have when you want to break for a couple of minutes. It is a bit of a short coming to not include a wrench for the seat lock (not a drummer) but I found that a 1/4” box end wrench works perfectly without stripping the square bolt. It is portable, doesn’t rattle, and actually feels a little heavier than it looks. Happy with this purchase.

This is the one to start out with, I tried a cheaper one since I’m a beginning Drummer, but it didn’t work out, this one’s nice and sturdy and super comfortable for long sessions. I recommend it.

I use the stool in a small work booth and it's size, height adjustments, and tendency to keep me sitting straight (I'm a leg crosser and a slumper when allowed) is very welcome. The build seems very sturdy, but I do tilt it a bit on entry sometimes - probably due to the limited space mentioned, because I'm coming in from the side instead of being able to walk to the front and sit straight back onto it. Regardless, a more stable model of the same design would be nice.

This throne has been used almost everyday for several months now. It’s very comfortable and stable, even if I am moving around a lot. The hardware is sturdy and well machined. The foam in the seat and back is firm and holds its shape, even after several hours of playing. The upholstery is also holding up well. The back itself is comfortable and supportive but will come loose unless it’s really cranked tight. The back can be adjusted to a range but for me it didn’t go back quite far enough so I drilled another hole in the seat bracket to allow more travel. For me, a minor and easily remedied issue. Gibraltar makes good stuff. I am considering a second one for another kit.

Backrest- moves with the throne and is in good positioning Seat- Very comfortable especially for a bigger guy, gives the tush the "just right" feeling Legs- very secure and stable Adjustability/memory lock- confusing and doesn't come with instructions of how to adjust. We haven't done any internet research and I'm sure there is a simple answer to our confusion but it is actually the height needed when put together so no huge drive to find out what we are doing wrong. I think it all comes down to the memory lock. A great throne only drawback is that it isn't a hydraulic lift, but I knew that when purchasing it and no great information of the memory lock with the packaging. Bought this for my keyboard playing guitarist who likes the occasional night of rock band drums. It has worked well for all three above and even has his drummer brother maybe a bit envious that this may be better than his. (which it is :)!)

The upright back rest is way too close to the seat. I’m not an enormous person but had to take it off as it was pushing me off the front of the throne.

Nice and sturdy. Great for long plating session. Bum doesn’t tire.

This is the most wonderful keyboard throne. At times I spend up to 5 hours sitting so comfort is A MUST. It never lets me down. In fact the longer I use it the more it conforms to my body requirements. I must note that because of my particular body requirements I had to increase the bend in the backrest arm to +90 degrees. However, now that I've been using it for many hours, there's a good possibility this adjustment may have NOT been necessary. A bit too premature. This is a very practical unit beit a studio application or a home setting. So very well priced.

...auch immer noch deutl. preiswerter als Hocker dieser Machart von Herstellern klingender Marken wie z.B. die, diverser Hersteller von Drums. Super bequem, auch (oder gerade) für "Schwergewichte" mit entspr. "Koffer", schwer u. massiv, tadellose Verarbeitung, aufwändige u. durchdachte Feststellmechaniken, edler u. angenehmer Samtveloursbezug, und - last but not least - eine ebenso funktionelle wie bequeme Rückenlehne. Aufgrund immer wiederkehrender Kritik in div. Rezensionen an dem (angebl. zu großen) Abstand der Rückenlehne zur Sitzfläche, sah ich mich schon im Geiste Flex oder Eisensäge ansetzen, um den Bügel der Lehne unter der Sitzfläche ein Stück zu kürzen, und so den Abstand praktikabel zu gestalten... ...was sich aber nach dem Zusammenbau (im Karton in 4 Teile zerlegt: Untergestell, Sitzfläche, Lehne u. Bügel) in Luft auflöste: Den Bügel bis zum Anschlag in der Führung unter d. Sitzfläche eingeschoben u. fixiert, d. Lehne bis bündig rauf zur Abdeckkappe des Bügels u. fixiert - und siehe da, es ist PERFEKT! Ich sitze aufrecht und habe dennoch festen Kontakt mit dem Rücken zur Lehne - besser geht's praktisch gar nicht mehr - also genau so, wie's (auch) von Profis in Bezug auf d. Sitzhaltung am Set empfohlen wird! Wer damit (dennoch) ein Problem hat, ist entweder mit einer merkwürdigen Physiognomie gestraft, hat einen anderen Hocker, oder sitzt irgendwie völlig falsch / krumm / oder sonst wie unnatürlich an seiner "Schießbude". Vielleicht ist's ja mal für den Einen oder Anderen an der Zeit, einen Physiotherapeuten oder gar Orthopäden aufzusuchen...? Zusammenfassend komme ich zu der Feststellung, dass es zwar auch (mindestens) einen Hocker mit Rückenlehne schon für knapp unter 100,-€ gibt, aber der kann dann auch nicht mit einem Samtvelours-Sitzbezug (mit dem auch die Rückenlehne bezogen ist) punkten, was aber die - zumindest mir bekannten - wesentl. teureren Hocker ebenfalls nicht können. Ob Leder, oder gar Kunstleder - im Sommer schwitzig-nass u. "klebrig" (zumindest in kurzem "Beinkleid") u. im Winter buchstäbl. arschkalt. Auf dem >>Gibraltar<< sitzt man hingegen im Sommer trocken u. im Winter angenehm körperwarm - auch am Rücken - und das zudem auf einer ausgesprochen dicken Sitzpolsterung. Fest, aber nicht zu hart und dennoch weich genug, dass es auch nach längeren Sessions nicht unangenehm drückt, was sowohl leichtgewichtigere Drummer als auch schwerere "Brocken" zufrieden stellen dürfte. Meine 102 Kilo fühlen sich jedenfalls sauwohl darauf. Dicke, massive Gummifüße machen den "Tron" gleichermaßen rutschfest wie standsicher, wozu u.a. natürl. auch die massiven Doppelstreben des Untergestells ihren Teil beitragen, der Memory Lock für die Höheneinstellung hält bombenfest u. zuverlässig die eingestellte Höhe - egal ob man die Sitzfläche nun fixiert (starr / nicht drehend), oder man sich - wie bei mir der Fall - dafür entscheidet, den Sitz frei drehend zu nutzen (was schon allein das Platznehmen / Verlassen des Sets deutl. erleichtert, vor allen Dingen bei beengten Platzverhältnissen), wie überhaupt alle Ein-/Feststellmechaniken aus meiner Sicht schon Profiqualität aufweisen und einmal eingestellt wackelt, klappert oder kippelt da nirgends mehr was und erfordert auch später keinerlei Nach-/Einstellarbeiten mehr, was man allerdings bei diesem Preis dann auch erwarten darf. Unterm Strich gesehen kann er also alles besser als die billige(r)en, aber eben auch nix schlechter als die teure(re)n. Fazit: Ein wirkl. edler Hocker mit Profi-Merkmalen zu einem (noch) akzeptablen Preis, der schon aufgrund seines Bezugsstoffes in gewisser Weise ein Alleinstellungsmerkmal darstellt. Überraschender Weise kostet er z.Zt. allerdings 179,-€ - während ich im Dezember 2019 noch 10,-€ weniger dafür berappen musste - womit er sich dann allerdings preisl. schon wieder merklich in Richtung der hochpreisige(r)en Hocker bewegt. Darüber zu urteilen verkneife ich mir an dieser Stelle aber und freue mich statt dessen über die Ersparnis (...?...). Ich hätte ihn auch für den aktuellen Preis noch genommen, würde mich aber zugegebenermaßen schwarz ärgern, zu lange mit der Kaufentscheidung gewartet zu haben. Bei dem Superangebot zu einem Edel-Rasierer in der "Black Friday - Woche" (im selben Monat) ist mir genau das passiert... ...allerdings war die - verpasste - Ersparnis im Vergleich dazu schon drastisch. Die alte Leier: Wer zu spät kommt, den bestraft... ...wer oder was auch immer.

Not the cheapest but still excellent value for money. Assembly and adjustment for height etc. are easy and the stool/throne is weighty and solidly constructed. I have a K&M stool in the other studio and this Gibraltar version is in no way inferior - in fact I find the seat is, if anything, more comfortable.

I purchased this throne as a guitar seat, the seat is very comfortable, but I found the backrest useless, I felt the backrest was pushing me off the seat. I had to bend the backrest support backwards to about 60 degrees to make it functional which I think is a poor show.
