You can but you will need to sand the surface so that the paste sticks well on the smooth surface

Is it similar to gesso

This is thicker than gesso, gesso we sell separately

can it be mixed with acrylic paints to lighten the shade>?

Yes it can be, however it will make your paint more matte as it's a primer

Can i use it on metal surface?

You can however for better bonding you will need to prime the surface meaning sand the surface and add gesso before applying texture paste

Nice Thickness

The paste was delivered quickly by Amazon. The jar was sealed properly and undamaged even though Amazon delivered it only in a paper bag. I scooped out some from the jar and was happy with the fact that it was pretty thick and was holding the shape pretty well.
