This is the best, store bought, big batch you can get--in my opinion. It's fresh, doesn;t have that waxy shine or toughness of many other "premium" jerkys. It is soft and natural looking and delicious. My only complaint is is there's a touch too much sodium...It's noticeably saltier than Tillamook, for example, but the quiality is still a lot better. The only better Jerky I've had is from small batch, local producers. But for price and wide availability...this is the best.

Let me start with the cons. This is very salty. If you eat it as a snack, you'll need a tall glass of water or another beverage. Alternatively, you can put it in a mug, pour water over it, and fish out the pieces to eat, and then heat the water and drink it as a broth. Or use it to cook with, and use less salt in the recipe. Another downside is that it has sodium nitrite as preservative. I think fear of small amounts of preservatives is irrational, but I also know that for some people, it's a dealbreaker. For me, the presence of preservatives is a plus. In the past, I've had "preservative-free" jerky go moldy on me. Maybe it's just the area I live in, high humidity in the air. I had to store that jerky in the freezer. But this at least lasts long enough for me to be able to eat it! Another pro is that it's high in protein. By weight, it's straight up 50% protein, and by calories, it's 80% protein! It's very low in saturated fat. As long as you don't have an undue fear of preservatives or red meat, this can fit into most diets and help a lot of people meet their health/fitness goals. It's also very low in carbs and has no added sugars, so can fit into low carb and keto diets.

I gave these a 4 because to me they have a bad aftertaste and left a film feeling in my mouth. Now everyone is different so I’m sure it’s not that way for everyone. My little girl she ate it and didn’t complain one bit. Nice package good price and quality jerky.

The original beef jerky is mine and my husband favorite beef jerky out there! it’s expensive though, so we only buy it for special occasions. We purchase everytime we travel, it’s an airplane staple! The zero sugar was very good and is probably my favorite!

I had great expectations for this Old Trapper zero sugar beef jerky. Being diabetic I have to watch my sugar intake but I love beef jerky. This "Zero sugar" option had my hopes up. After all, it is from "Old Trapper" and that is some downright OK beef jerky. Sadly, this stuff was awful. At first taste I thought..."peppercorns, they loaded it with peppercorns." Some folks like those but I do not. After a minute or two the "peppercorn taste" faded away and was replaced by what I can only describe as the taste of old gym shoe leather. It was NOT pleasant. I tried three pieces and now I will be throwing the bag away. I will not purchase this item again nor can I favorably recommend it for others.

Omg I'm so torn..... I looooove salt..... And the reviews don't lie.... It is very very very salty. Even for me. At first I was really really really happy and excited that the daunting overwhelming typical sweetness of savory jerky was absolutely absent!!! Which I've always yearned and searched for always. Even better? The meat is so meaty and tender not tough and leathery. Beef is beefing! Flavor wise as well. But second piece took a lot more courage to consume and for the very first time ever in life of any salty snack, I thought a bag of this wouldn't be healthy...... 🥺🥺🥺Idk maybe 100 150 mg less sodium?..... This would be thee absolutely PERFECT JERKY! So I plan to freeze it and eat it here and there sparingly. The portion is also very generous for price and quality. Dang it!

Absolutely worth the price! I love the Old Trapper brand, but this zero-sugar jerky is on another level. Even though it costs slightly more than the Original or Old Fashioned flavors, the quality justifies the price. What I love most is that the zero-sugar jerky is actually softer and more tender than the sugar-sweetened versions. If you are looking for a high-quality, low-carb snack, this is it.
