Yes, it keeps your phone charged with Android Auto
Bought this to overcome a problem using Android Auto: the cable to the head unit doesn't provide enough power to keep my phone charged. On a long trip, my phone will go dead while connected. I can't plug the phone in to a power source without disconnecting it, then losing Maps. Anyway, this splitter lets me have the data side plugged into the head unit, and the other side into a power adapter. Everything works perfectly.

Works great with my Firestick 4k's
I bought the 2 pack and used one on each of my firestick 4k's for faster wired network speed and possibly adding storage later on. I connected everything up and it all just worked right away. One note since the firestick is only usb 2.0 when I did a local network speed test I only was getting about 250Mbs but that is all I was looking for. I am going to be streaming 4k movies from my plex server and wanted to be sure I had plenty of bandwidth. From the research I've been doing 4k can possible spike above 100Mbs so I didnt want the Amazon brand ethernet adapter.

didnt fix my issue entirely, but is a fine cable otherwise
Cable seems fine, it improved the freezing I was experiencing on my webcam when it would autofocus, but it didnt stop it entirely. I dont think thats the fault of the cable though. otherwise, it seems to be made of OK materials, and seems to be well made enough that im not afraid to leave it plugged in at least.

Good for what?
The split cable has two connectors so I assume the blue is USB 3 and the other is USB 2. I bought for a external DVD drive that would not power all the way up with its existing built in USB cable. I plugged both ends of the split cable and no success. I plug the USB 3 end into the computer and the other into powered USB plug on my electrical outlet and still no success. I have USB 3 and USB 2 portable hard drives that work with its existing cables but I thought I tried it with this split cable. When plugged in with the USB 3 end only, they power up. When plugged in with the USB 2 end only, it does not power up. I have no idea what this split cable it good for based on the devices I had to test it. It did not work for the DVD drive that I bought it for and the USB 2 end seems "useless" as a standalone. I may have a defected cable, but for $4.99 I am not going through the return process. I can still use it as a backup for my USB cable for my hard drives even though this is a short cable. They can feedback that I did not understand the utility of this cable or I just got a defected cable, but I can only feedback on its performance under the devices I tried it with.

Working perfectly on my Wii U.
I got this to connect a hard drive to my Wii U since the USB ports don't have enough energy to properly run the hard drive. My Wii U would detect the hard drive but it wouldn't let me install any games. Now it's working perfectly. Been using it about every other day and it's working great.

Finally got it to work in my tricky setup
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought this adapter for use with a wired Playstation 4 controller, which has an internal battery that gets charged while being used. In order to reduce (or eliminate) the burden on the Playstation 4 console, I want the controller to get additional (or all) power from an external power source. However, when I use this adapter cable, the PS4 controller doesn't work. It's fully charged, so there must be a problem with the data lines. According to the product images, I connected it correctly. For my application, if I understand correctly, it should work even without connecting the "charge only" wire to an external power source. UPDATED REVIEW: Changed rating from 1 to 4 stars. When this Y-cable didn't work, I bought another brand which didn't work, so I figured the problem was not the Y-cable. As it turns out, the Y-cable does work between the PS4 and PS4 controller: PS4 controller -> Y-cable -> PS4. But I have a more complicated setup: PS4 controller -> USB hub -> XIM Apex console adapter -> PS4. I also have a wired PS3 NAV controller (internal battery is disconnected) and a wired mouse both plugged into the hub. That's a lot of stuff drawing power from the PS4, which is why I wanted the Y-cable for extra power. When I insert the Y-cable at the "top" (XIM Apex -> Y-cable -> PS4), nothing works. However, when I move it down one level (USB hub -> Y-cable -> XIM Apex -> PS4), it works; not sure why. My setup works without the Y-cable (as long as PS4 controller is fully charged), but the Y-cable should reduce the burden on the PS4.

Fixed My Astro A50 Charging Issue
Astro A50s are known to have an unfortunate charging issue with their docks. I own a Gen 4 A50, and the dock stopped charging my headset after a couple of months after purchasing. I didn’t want to return and so I looked for a cable that potentially fixed my charging issue, and using this cable did the trick! My dock would take forever (like 8 hours+) to even charge my headset and now its charging back to normal times and haven’t had issues ever since. The only thing to keep in mind here is the length of the cable, it is short so depending on your setup you may need a longer cable.
