Can you crush ice using this blender?

Yes, the owners manual states that you can crush ice either with or without water in the blender. I've tried it with both and it works really well. I used the "pulse" function and created snow with only 5 or 6 pulses.

Does this blender palverize kale (leaving no chunks)?

Yes this blender does an AWESOME job on smoothies with Kale and Ginger (which I have every day). Use medium to blend everything - then crank it up to High for about 2 minutes and it's very smooth and liquefied. Personally I blend the ingredients (fruits, veggies, ginger) that need to be pureed - THEN I add my shake mix, protein powder, and etc. This avoids over-blending the shakes which can get a bit too frothy otherwise.

Does it make "smooth" green smoothies? In other words, are they drinkable?

Yes! I had an overpriced Ninja that died after a month and a half of daily smoothies. Returned it, ordered this one. On direct comparison, this one is so much better in so many ways. I blend a smoothie daily--including nuts, seeds, carrots, greens, and a variety of frozen fruit, including berries. They are very drinkable indeed, and the smart setting on this one is far superior to the Ninja. Go for it. Srsly.

The blade and jar look bigger than older models. Can I use the jar and blade from another Oster model if I wanted to?
