Does the meter autodetect if its ac or dc voltage?

No you have to select voltage with the dial, then use the blue select button to select AC,DC or Hz, if you look at the decals around the selector dial you can see some of the decals are blue, those are also selectable with the blue button, if you select any function it is also displayed in the lcd display eg AC or DC.

Which product (210d or 210e) measures the smallest current. id need to measure down to 1ma

Hi Michael, the UT210E has an extra digit on the 2A range giving better resolution for lower currents, however in practice neither UT210D or UT210D will be of any use for measuring current at levels around 1mA, as they rely on the field generated in the clamp, and the leads/probes are thus not used. To measure micro/milli currents you need a 'normal' DMM which measures current by being part of the circuit it is analysing. For cheapness a Toolzone EL060 will do this, but it does have Auto Power Off, which is a pain when it times out during a lengthy test.

Does it measure DC with the clamp?

Yes, this meter does measure DC current, by virtue of a Hall Effect sensor. Measuring low DC currents, it's necessary to null out the earth's magnetic field using the Zero function.
